Yes. He looks significantly heavier. Maybe all of this about his playing tackle has him bulking up, but he looks bigger and I hate to say it slower.
I saw a couple of blurbs about him wanting to lose weight so I think he knows he is too heavy.

I thought he looked bigger than Carolina but was not sure hopefully he can trim down before he comes off suspension.

I agree about Hardy, he looks too big and that's why I said I thought his biggest impact would be as an interior nickel rusher. I'm sure he loses some weight and shakes the rust, although we may have to wait until about November for him to really get back to his Carolina level of play.

Luckily it looks like we have plenty of firepower off the edge though.

I agree, but we might lose a bit with him as a run defender if he plays a lot inside. He's at his best going after the QB.

Garrett: Cowboys weren't good early, middle or late

By Kevin Patra
Around the NFL writer

The Dallas Cowboys got sideswiped by the San Francisco 49ers in a 23-6 shellacking Sunday night.

The loss left Jason Garrett sounding like he was rattling off a rejected Dr. Seuss manuscript.

"It wasn't very good on offense. It wasn't very good on defense. It wasn't very good in the kicking game. It wasn't good early, middle or late," he said.

"It wasn't a very good performance at all."

We won't make a big deal about a preseason loss in which 2/5 of the starting offensive line didn't play, Tony Romo threw one pass and Dez Bryant sat. Last preseason the Cowboys went 0-4, then won 12 regular season games.

Perhaps, the one area Garrett can point to as being most disappointing is not seeing any improvements from his running backs.

"We didn't run the ball very well," Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. "Obviously we were trying to control the line of scrimmage and didn't do a very good job of that.

"It was good to see those guys out there, but we obviously didn't run the ball real well."

All three top backs played. Darren McFadden started and carried three times for four yards. Lance Dunbar caught just two passes. And Joseph Randle, who was only cleared to play with an oblique strain early Sunday, ran seven times for 30 yards.

As we've said all along, with no obvious standout the Cowboys will deploy a committee approach this season. Nothing changed Sunday. At least all three backs are on the field now.

"We had to wait until everyone got healthy so that we can compete for the job," Randle said. "It's still a competition. We'll keep grinding every day."

Yep, much better than the sunshine pumper. Especially since he had the injury out and he didn't take it.

That .3 is really a whole fuck lot of difference?

If you are looking at YPC averages and using that to grade RBs, that tells me exactly how much effort and actual thought you put into it.
:lol

Silly me for using actual meaningful statistics. I guess I should just generically state my opinion as fact with absolutely nothing to support it.

Nevermind the fact that basically no RB with 100+ carries averaged worse on a per carry basis last year. Silly stats, he looked great! Of course if he played for the Cowboys you'd be calling him a total scrub.

He sat out an entire year of football. I'm not surprised if he is a little sluggish right now. He will pick it up. He isn't exactly logging many snaps at RE right now at all.

He averaged 3.1 yards per carry last year. You feel good about that? Hell at least McFadden averaged 3.4.
I don't care what his ypc was. I don't know how many carries he has when Foster was healthy and how that effected his season total. What I do know is what I saw when he was giving the starters role.

If you know anything about statistics, you would realize that .3 of a yard is not significant.

If I thought McFadden at .3 yards more was good, then you'd have a point. However, McFaddens 3.4 ypc is also pretty sad. So what I'm really saying is both guys looked like shit last year. Just think it's funny that you think McFadden sucks but a guy who was statistically even worse is somehow good. Of course if Blue played for Dallas you'd probably be saying he sucks.

Where did I saw he was "good"? I suggested he might be a better fit than McFadden because he runs with power, which is what McFadden could never do with his little pathetic chicken legs.

Sorry, you said he looks solid. Then you bitched at me for criticizing his regular season last year.
And solid means what it means. Not "explosive". Which a term I have seen quite a few of you retards that defend McFadden's ineptitude continue to use.

I want a back that will get what is there.

Not an overrated former phenom who has zero vision and is more likely to lose a yard than he is to gain it from carry to carry.

McFadden is the worst kind of RB you want to have if you intend to make the running game part of your team identity.

How can anyone deny this?

Essentially by the time Dallas came to terms with the fact that they sharted themselves in FA this turd was all that was left.

Maybe the Jones' man crush confused the message enough at VR that no one was willing to stand up during the draft and tell the emperors they were buck naked at one of the most critical positions on the team.

He looked good watching from his home. Not going to be a go to guy from the couch.
