Archer: Can Dez Bryant's passion ever be too much?

According to Peter King this whole thing stemmed from the Rams players being peeved that Dez was trash-talking and treating Monday's practice as if it were a real game.

Unless it was supposed to be some sort of half-speed practice, I don't fault Dez at all for going hard in practice. Practice as you play is my motto.

If the Rams have a problem with an intense session of practice that's their problem.

Maybe that's part of the reason why they haven't been worth a damn in over a decade. Just a thought.
I think most of the fighting had to do with the fact that everyone was claiming that there wasn't enough intensity on Monday from both sides. For some reason football players think that showing intensity means fighting.

How did Dez provoke this when he was a football feild away when this all started?

He was talking to Jerry when this jumped off.
He was trash talking the entire practice. Funny how did he get to the other football field? But then never mind.

I applaud Dez for sticking up for his teammates. Trying to pin the blame for this fight on him is really reaching for something to bitch about. The Rams were pretty clearly the instigators as proven by all the cheap shots taken by them. Both punches and shots from behind.

How was Dez going hard when he wasn't even practicing? You mean his trash talk was going hard?

Even the Dallas guys were saying he was running his mouth incredibly. Granted, I'd never say any kind of trash talking justified cheap shots, so in no way am I blaming Dez.

Once again commenting without all the facts.

It was widely reported where Dez was when this kicked off and he was not the only one trash talking.

So Peter King is gospel to you?

And Peter King did not come in here laying blame so why would I argue with him?
No but he was there and you were not. Take it up with him.

I'm not laying blame. I said sometimes Dez can over antagonize folks.

He was there but he missed Dez talking to Jerry when the fight started and then still blames Dez.

I did not need to be there, I have video and have read multiple other reporters give the reason why this fight started.

But hey Peter King and stuff.

If you ant to know what really happened...............or maybe just ride with Peter King.:lol

The issue started in Monday’s practice when Rams corner Tremaine Johnson laid out Joseph Randle, breaking an agreed upon protocol that the players would not mete out big hits. The NFL Network camera showed Dez Bryant jawing with Johnson early in today’s practice but the real action took place later.

Today, the issues between the teams boiled over when a Kenny Britt screen saw a Cowboys defensive lineman rudely cut down. Safety Jeff Heath took a run at the Rams lineman Demetrius Rainey away from initial hit. That set off the first free for all. The dispute was broken up and practice resumed.

Randy Gregory beat Rams left tackle Greg Robinson on the ensuing pass play, knocking down Robinson and knocking off the tackle’s helmet in the process. The two made eye contact and Gregory looked ready to make a late run at Robinson, but thought better of it, and turned back to his huddle. Robinson leapt to his feet and took a long swing at Gregory with his helmet. Gregory saw Robinson swing and side stepped the blow. Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson, a major participant in the first fight also saw Robinson’s swing and took Robinson down.

At this point both teams entered the fray. Players came to the fight from far corners of the practice fields. Nick Fairley led the Rams charge, knocking down three Cowboys during this fight. A couple of Dallas players tried to blindside Fairley, but he managed to throw each of them to the ground.

At its height there was fighting going on in all corners of the far field.

This was round two. When the fighting worked its way to the fence, offensive line coach Marc Colombo jumped into the middle of the craziness and attempted to pull players apart. As people headed back to their previous position groupings, Todd Gurley and Tyler Patmon started round three. Though dressed in sweat pants, Gurley went after a fully dressed Patmon and three several punches at the helmet-less Patmon.

After round three each team retreated to a field, the Rams to the far field and the Cowboys to the near field, with each team’s fan group chanting in support.

I am not the one who posted about Peter Kings account. That was 1 big fan. That's why I said argue with Peter King not me. I posted the Dez was trash talking all day and he was. I also said he you can over antagonize at times. Further, I said there is a time to trash talk and a time not to and all in all Dez took a punch in the face that could have been worse. You wasted a lot of effort trying to disprove Peter King. It wasn't my source for anything. I was pointing out to you that he was there and if you didn't think he was credible take it up with him. It has nothing to do with me.

By the way I didn't say the brawl was Dez's fault. You apparently assumed that.

Considering you said this:

Dez himself got punched in the face. He was lucky but it could have been a busted jaw like Geno Smith. Dez baited the Rams and it could have been a bad situation all around. He went too far in my opinion but I am certain you will disagree.
I'd say that sounds like you're putting 100% blame on Dez. You're backpedaling and mincing words now.

You can say that but as has been pointed out Dez was chiding the Rams and that's part of the reason they were on edge. I didn't say he started the brawl but he did race to it once it got started and jumped in the middle of the Frey which earned him a punch in the face. What I contended is he is prone to over antagonize people and the actions by him bears that out. The brawl started and he jumped in. It could have gotten him a severe injury. He was contributory to the incident but I never declared he was solely responsible.

:lol

Just can't let it go, was Dez the only one jawing from the Cowboys?

You sure see hell bent to make Dez seem like an instigator when Gregory himself said he started it and what about the guy from Rams who was jawing as much or more than Bryant?
