Sturm said Collins is already one of the 5 best OL.

On the flip side I saw Leary struggle a bit. Just par for the course -- Leary is inconsistent. Dominant at times, struggles at others.

That's funny when pretty much everyone I've heard has said Leary is miles ahead of Collins. Someone on the radio yesterday even said Leary might be having the best camp of anyone on the OL.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that Leary was playing against better players while Collins went against backups and scrubs who won't be in the league?

And yet the guy backing up Free looked like dogshit.

I still don't get why Collins isn't out there at RT.

This.

I would love to see Collins line up at the RT spot, Free isn't getting any younger, and if the idea is to get the 5 best lineman on the field I think Free could be the odd man out. Nothing against Free, he's a good player.

I thought the scuttlebutt from the reporters around camp was that the coaches were pretty sure Collins simply doesn't have the feet to play tackle. That's what I've heard, anyway.

If Free were to get hurt for any extended period, I wonder if they'd think of putting Martin out there and letting Collins play G.

Yes, I've heard those reports as well but I don't recall hearing about them actually trying him out at RT.

Watching him in OTAs and concluding that he doesn't have the feet to play RT, though, just smells of laziness. Surely they're not that damn concerned about hurting Free's feelings.

I know he projected to Guard but didn't he play Tackle at LSU? Either way, I'm all about getting the most talent on the field as possible. I don't care to move Martin just because he and Fred have such good chemistry, but if it means getting Collins on the field and he is one of our top five then I would think you have to do it.

Collins did have a couple great blocks, but there were a fews play where he completely whiffed his man. I don't want to get on a guy for his first preseason game too much but Ronald Leary should be the starter. At least in the first couple games

Leary is doing fine. If you're talking about the 5 best I think he's in there. Free shouldn't get the free pass just because Collins' feet didn't look great in OTAs.

Collins played LT at an elite level at LSU.

NFL teams were projecting him as more of a RT/Guard type. I'm all about trying him at RT. Even if he struggles at first I think he has plenty of athleticism to be an Erik Williams type RT where he just mauls people over.

Leary had been better in practices from what I heard. He wasn't last night though.

And no, I don't think it has to do with level of competition. Leary plays best against high competition like Watt.

He's also somewhat inconsistent which he was last night.
