Cubs have taken the first 2 of an important 4 game series against the Giants. 12 games over .500 now.

Also, Joe Maddon benched Starlin Castro and started Addison Russell at SS (the kid is impressive in the field & is starting to come around with the bat). Maddon said it is 'not a day off' for Castro & Russell will be starting at SS again tomorrow. I like Castro. He had some nice seasons when the Cubs had little else going for them, but he had to be benched. He has just fallen apart and it is a mystery as he is still only 25 years old. Time for his run as a Cub to end. He'll be dumped in the offseason & rumor is they will shop Javy Baez as well. Maybe Castro will bounce back with another team but unfortunately for the Cubs his trade value is shot.

Meanwhile Kyle Schwarber continues his assault on MLB pitching. He can flat out rake.

Dominican but yeah, who knows. I really have no idea what has happened to him. He had a bad year in 2013 but bounced back to have a pretty nice season in 2014, so I assumed 2013 was an outlier. Looks now like it was more a sign of things to come.

It was the perfect time to play the Rangers for the Twins. The Rangers record against teams under .500 is abysmal. I think it was 18-31 before the Seattle series. They are backwards on all their splits. Good on the road and bad at home. Horrid against teams with losing records but great against winning teams. Hi Houston fans!!

It was against a rookie pitcher so I won't go overboard, but often times teams go on a run after their team makes a trade. Shows management is willing to help.

They are on one hell of a run & don't look to be slowing down any time soon. They look like an entirely different team than they did a handful of weeks ago.
