My impression was until the Washington game Randle consistently had trouble after early success.

I'm hoping that was just an impression, because we really, really need this guy to be something more in 2015.
I saw Randal during all his college career. He isn't (wasn't) a spectacular back but was pretty reliable and always was as threat to break one. He is a good receiver as well. I think he can be effective as a starter but he will need relief in the game. He isn't durable enough to be a full time RB.

He needs to average somewhere in the 15 carries per game range. I'd mix in plenty of the number 2 RB which in my opinion should be Ryan Williams but my gut feeling is that it will be McFadden unless he really sucks out loud.
If we have roughly 60 offensive snaps, and pretend it's a 50/50 split run vs pass, that's 30 carries.

You say Randle gets 15, then there's 15 to divide between DMac (10?) and Dunbar (5?). I'm assuming Williams
is the odd man out.

Is this what it should look like?

It's largely dependent on each opponent. If he has 15 carries per game that's 240 carries for the season which would have been 10th highest last year.

This is fine if he's the next Justin Forsett, but if he's not then Dallas needs to mix up the carries or just run him anyway and take what we get.

My fear is they decide to throw more instead, which takes our great linemen out of the game.

Romo threw the ball on average 27 times per game last year so you're probably in the right ballpark. I'm not sure I'm really thrilled giving Dunbar even 5 carries because I think he sucks that bad as a RB but he will need to get some carries if we want to use him as a receiver out of the backfield. If we don't, teams will just automatically count him as a WR when he is on the field and bring in a DB to cover him.

For the most part you're just trying to ride the hot hand, I just think Randle's will generally be the hottest. There may be days where other RBs on the roster have more carries then him.

I'm not seeing why Dunbar is part of this plan. Have you seen his YPC?

Feel free to offer suggestions on what you see the potential distribution would be. Mine is a guess based on
Randle being the starter and McFadden being the second choice. Beyond those 2, it's anyone's guess.

I see McFadden as the third down back, putting Dunbar out of a job. Being a vet who can catch the ball and pass block effectively is a big part of why he was signed.

I'd see the split (for the season) as:
Randle 275
McFadden 115
Williams 115

I don't think Williams gets off the practice squad although I would like to see him inserted in the lineup. I don't think he will hold up physically.

If Williams can't step into Randle's role (from last year) as a backup/change of pace, he'll be cut, IMO. The team would just have to go with one of the emergency vet options on the street.

Williams is a bold prediction. I get the feeling LT is close to the truth here, but if Williams was so far away, I don't know why we would keep him.
He may actually be a valid candidate to work into the rotation. Hell, perhaps kick return? That's an area of need. Then he offers more value than Dunbar for sure.

What do you mean if Williams is so far away?

From being able to participate in the rotation plan, because of his repaired knee. He seems as if he might be a long way from being ready and able.

I'm not sure why yiu get that impression at all. Played last year in preseason with no injury issues. I heard no problems all year long while he was on the practice squad. He practiced during OTA's but missed a little time with swelling in his knee.

The dude looked ready last year when everyone wanted him to make the roster. I have no idea why you would think he still needs recovery time.

This, basically. We're not asking for the moon here. If he can't handle 100 carries we can easily get someone like Ray Rice off the street who can.

I was saying IF he isnt ready, cause I'm not sure that he isn't. I know LT is leaning skeptic, but if he's ready to roll, then I say it's Randle, Dmac and Williams. It will be very interesting to see this mix in action to see which will step up. And to see how much of a drop off there will be from last year.

Interesting to see the breakage between Murray and Randle.

The counter is a tough blocking assignment and just as hard to run behind.

Good backs with patience can make it deadly.

I'm pretty sure most of Randles big runs were counter plays.
