But....But you have Chandler the best recruiter in the NBA.:lol

I knew Cuban was getting desperate when he gave Chandler that ridiculous contract last year.
Of course.

Parsons was overpaid too, but we were desperate because we're in that same boat the Rockets were in when they could t convince anyone to sign no matter how hard they tried.

The problem is, there doesn't appear to be a young up and coming star sitting on the bench looking to become the lead man somewhere else, ala Harden in OKC. So I can't even hope for a trade.

I feel your pain Ace, I just can't help but laugh at Cuban and Chandler after the Douchey way they signed that contract in the club last year.

Fuck that coward.

If he wants to change his mind, ok fine. He's saving the Mavs from making a mistake anyway.

But be a man and s professional about it. To completely ignore everyone connected to the Mavs, especially after he promised them a meeting, is both an unprofessional and bitch ass move.

At least meet Cuban and tell him face to face that you're sorry, but you're heart just wasn't in it. Instead, this coward acted like a teenage girl avoiding her ex-boyfriend. He's knows it's wrong too which is why he kept his agents out of the loop because they certainly would've advised him to at least talk to the Mavs and tell him he was changing his mind.

While I am glad we aren't committing a max contract, it still bothers me that he handled it the way he did.

I hope he tears his achilles the first day of camp.

It's rebuild time.

The way I look at it, even with Jordan, this may have been inevitable down the road anyway. There are no franchise pieces on this team, so unless Jordan were to surprisingly convince another big name FA to join, the Mavs would e been in this same situation a year from now, only with a bad max deal for a guy who isn't a franchise player on their books.

Tear it down now and rebuild.

The way the FA system is set up in the NBA I am surprised that more players don't do this. I don't think the Mavs let Chandler go if they knew he was going to change his mind. Really limited what they could do. The Mavs should be compensated in some way.

Chandler verballed with the Suns before Jordan did.

Why should they be compensated nobody broke any rules here.

They had an agreement in principle, so up until yesterday he had agreed to play for the Mavs. If they had known that from the start I don't think they let Chandler go...or would have pursued other bigs.

No rules were broken, but if you can't see how this would fuck up an entire offseason plan for a team, then I don't know what to tell you.

Sour grapes... :sad
No sour grapes at all.

I never wanted this guy. But being as it is my team, I do not like them being treated in an unprofessional manner and being hung out to dry in the process.

It's wrong.

So if they would have signed him, you would have been on here freaking out about what a bad signing it was?

Or you would have been :towel

Go back through this thread and see if you find any post of mine reacting to his signing.....you won't find one.

I was never excited about this signing because he isn't a franchise player and he has no offensive game. I know we're desperate, but you don't go giving max contracts to guys that aren't franchise players. We would've been the same 7th or 8th seed that we've been the last 2 years.

I don't care that we aren't signing him, but I don't appreciate how he treated the franchise either.

Unfortunately, I don't think any ramifications will come from this for this year, but you can bet on there being some language written going forward to prevent this from happening again.

Completely agree. I don't have an issue with him backing out of the agreement and re-signing with the Clippers. But hiding out and not giving the Mavs the common courtesy of a phone call to tell them he wanted to return to LA.....that's a punk, bitch move.

My guess is the league will readjust the league calendar so teams won't be able to negotiate with players prior to the official free agency signing period.

While I agree Jordan should have picked up the phone, how long does it take to figure out Jordan does not want to play for you anymore.

After the 3rd text or call Cuban should have gotten the message and moved on, what could he have possibly said to change his mind.

Or they can leave it as is and realize this was an anomaly.

It's widely known that teams have backchannel contacts leading up to free agency anyway.
