More swift action on the stupid flag than what actually caused the tragedy.
I agree. But in this case I don't mind because it fits my agenda :art

But seriously, as sad as it is, it usually takes tragedy to push across significant change in our country....or in this case effect change regarding a controversial object.

In the grand scheme of things removing flags isn't going to curb racism but the timing was right for those who oppose the flag to push their agenda to have the flag removed. Sort of like the Patriot Act after the 9/11 attacks. I'm willing to bet that some politicians and intelligence agencies had been pushing for years to have the power to expand domestic surveillance. Once those attacks happened that opened a window for them to push their agenda.

I don't either, and I have lived in Texas my entire life. In some really small East Texas towns when I was younger. You don't get much more redneck than that in Texas.
What part of East Texas? Both of my parents grew up in East Texas. Small ass towns called Pittsburgh and Mount Pleasant.

All over. From Groesbeck to Blooming Grove to Tyler to where I graduated in Malakoff (just off of Cedar Creek Lake).

When will idiots realize that if they just ignore the feigned outrage from the zombies that this will all go away in two weeks when they fall for some other media-created distraction? By capitulating (like Wal-Mart, Nikki Haley, etc. are doing), the PC mob knows they have them by the balls and they will come later with more demands. This bullshit makes me sick, seeing it happen over and over.

That side of my family has been in Texas since it was Mexico. One of my relatives was actually an Indian translator for Sam Houston at the Alamo. He only survived because Houston sent him home to protect his land and the Indian tribe on it because it was right in the path of the Mexicans. CSB

One of my family members of that converted to Mormonism started doing all of our family genealogy. My grandmother was really grooving with her as she found lots of cool information. Once she found out that there was some black kin she quickly ended the conversation.

That's terrible. I love the genealogy thing. I paid Ancestry 100 bucks just so I could do my own study. This type of thing really interests me. No matter where it leads. And everything I have found confirmed a genealogy study another family member did years back. Some really cool stuff.

I guess Paul Thurmond the son of Strom does not understand the history of the this flag as well.

http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20150623/PC16/150629748

“For the life of me, I will never understand how anyone could fight a civil war based in part on the desire to continue the practice of slavery,” Thurmond said.

“Think about it for just a second. Our ancestors were literally fighting to continue to keep human beings as slaves, and continue the unimaginable acts that occur when someone is held against their will. I am not proud of that heritage.”
