I hear 2-3 this morning. They are saying 2 weeks for Beltre and then Gallo goes back down. He should be at Round Rock for that series. That's worst case scenario, though.

If Beltre is back on day 14, that's it for him. Refining his defensive skills in AAA will be too important for them to keep him around as a DH right now.I hear 2-3 this morning.
Yeah, when Beltre comes back Gallo goes to AAA. Guess I'm not following you.If Beltre is back on day 14, that's it for him. Refining his defensive skills in AAA will be too important for them to keep him around as a DH right now.
So it took a Gallo to make Bryant what he is today. Awesome.Joey Gallo's dad coached Kris Bryant, so pretty much GSM.
I hope he makes it hard on them but prior to last night JD didn't hesitate when saying it was only for the time that Beltre was injured. Will wait and see how he addresses that today.I sure hope the Rangers are not locked in to sending Gallo back down when Beltre is healthy...a guy like him is a shot in the arm and could push them into contention.
I'd make Deshields a super utility guy and stick him in LF.I hope he makes it hard on them but prior to last night JD didn't hesitate when saying it was only for the time that Beltre was injured. Will wait and see how he addresses that today.
My only concern is where to play him. You don't platoon Beltre. You give up a lot of defense if you play Fielder at first just to platoon at DH. He only has a handful of games played in the outfield. If they trusted him enough there they could move DeShields back to second and split tume in left I guess.
Hamilton out 3-4 weeks so there is more time for Gallo. Keep knocking them out.
He is similar to guys like Joc Pederson and George Springer in that he is a power/speed combo, low average/high strikeout guy. I don't think he is as good as either of those two but that isn't meant as a slight. I was fully aware of who he was when that trade for Myers went down (because I'm a baseball ) and I believe at the time of the trade I said that Souza had a strong chance to put up numbers at least comparable to Myers.Steven Souza's batting average isn't great, mostly cause his K rate is super high so far. But he's probably going to finish his rookie season as a 20/20 guy. Can't ask for much more and it's better than what Myers had provided in 2 years. Another great deal.
