Cowboys give Will McClay new title

8h

Todd Archer, ESPN Staff Writer

IRVING, Texas – For the third time in as many years, Will McClay has been given a new job title by the Dallas Cowboys.

McClay is now the team’s senior director of college and pro scouting after being given the assistant director of player personnel title in 2014. He was the team’s director of football research from 2011-13. While he has a new title, the job description remains the same: run the Cowboys’ personnel department.

McClay and Todd Williams, senior director football administration/football operations, are the highest-ranking personnel executives not named Jones.

Chris Hall was named the team’s assistant director of college scouting as he begins his 26th season with the club. He had been the college scouting coordinator.

The Cowboys also made a change in their scouting department with Justin Stucky becoming the team’s northeast area scout, replacing Bill Dekraker.

Dekraker joined the New York Jets as an area scout after his contract with the Cowboys expired. He had been with the Cowboys for seven seasons after spending time with the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins.

Stucky joined the Cowboys’ scouting department in 2009 and became the team’s combine scout in 2012.

Dekraker’s last project: first-round pick Byron Jones, who played at the University of Connecticut.

This will be as close as we ever get to someone not named Jones having the title of GM. Enjoy it, boys. :towel
