Regarding McDaniel, he has decent short range speed and power for his size, gutty runner who can catch even though he wasn't called on much at ND. No second gear at all but he's a gritty team player and a good leader. I could see him as a 3rd or 4th back option and a potential replacement for Dunbar. He may fare better than Dunbar or Randle behind the OL but that remains to be seen.

Amazing how we doubled up on LB and OT injury insurance but we have complete faith that McFadden will shake his injury issues. He has never started a full sixteen games in his entire NFL career.
Look Booze, Jerry knows what he is doing. Hasn't he proved this to you over the years? :unsure

I could care less how well the pass rush improved or didn't. It's just inconsequential compared with the effect Dallas' balanced offense had in 2014.
I'm not sure how you can say this. We had no pass rush whatsoever. I know you saw that too. That had to change, to improve. And at the same time, to replace Murray's production means replacing a serious talent at RB, which we failed to do. I grade us harshly on the latter need, but the non existent pass rush should be much better, and at least I can feel good about that. I am hopeful something else happens with RB, although right now it looks real fucked up.

Our pass rush does have the chance to go from really, really bad to pretty impressive in just one year.

We could be looking at three 8-10 sack players all added to the roster that were not here (or giving us anything) last year.

Hardy is new, Gregory is new, and Lawrence did not record a sack in the regular season.

Whoa.

They gave a guy who had less than 40 touches in his entire college career what amounts to nearly 75% of the max you can offer. Must have wanted him pretty bad.

I don't know a damn thing about this guy. But his speed is something we've been sorely lacking. Any chance he could make the team as a return guy/6th WR?

Who knows. All I can say is he barely saw the field at USC due to injuries and whatever, including being held out due to a spider bite. Sure hope it wasn't a brown recluse, those can be nasty.

If you had to, would you give up some of Murray's offensive production to obtain that dramatic improvement?

Would you consider that a fair trade ? Vastly improved pass rush/sack increase for some portion of 1800 yards of offense and x number of touchdowns?

Sounds like a brown noser:

Man, I love “Jerry’s world” it feels great playing there I mean I’ve never been a spectator and “Jerry’s world” but the only perspective I have is being a player and I love playing there I think it’s a great atmosphere. You don’t have to worry about any issues with the weather, so it was great there is always a great turnout because, you know, even if the people aren’t there watching the game they want to be in there it’s like an amusement park.

Cowboys trying to keep reputation high regarding undrafted free agents

In years past, the Cowboys have earned a reputation for signing undrafted free agents who develop into key contributors. On the current roster, quarterback Tony Romo, receiver Cole Beasley, kicker Dan Bailey and safety Barry Church — players who were not drafted — turned out to be some of their best finds.

“We’ll continue to take a lot of pride in that,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “It’s a priority for us. If you end up getting the top five or six guys that you’re after that you would have taken [in the draft], then it’s like having three more, five more, six more seventh-round picks. We think that pays off for us.”

The Cowboys began the process of filling out the bottom of their roster shortly after the draft ended Saturday night. According to the league and team websites, they are also bringing in Illinois fullback Jon Davis, Georgia Tech running back Synjyn Days, USC receiver George Farmer, Pittsburgh safety Ray Vinopal, North Carolina defensive back Tim Scott, and South Alabama quarterback Brandon Bridge.

Signings have yet to be officially announced, and some players will be added on a trial basis for next week’s rookie minicamp.

“It really doesn’t matter where you come from,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “On Thursday night, I’m going to stand right here in front of this rookie class and tell them that. We don’t care if you’re drafted in the first round or you’re a college free agent who just got here. We’re going to give you a chance to show who you are and how you can contribute to this football team. That’s a huge thing for us.”

The following are undrafted players who have been connected to the Cowboys as potential free agents or tryout players for this week’s rookie minicamp, according to league and team websites and the Twitter accounts of the players or their agents:

Name POS. College

Brandon Bridge QB South Alabama
Jon Davis FB Illinois,
Synjyn Days RB Georgia Tech
George Farmer WR USC
Ray Hamilton TE Iowa
Chucky Hunter DT TCU
Antwan Goodley WR Baylor
Deontay Greenberry WR Houston
Nick Harwell WR Kansas
Shane McDermott C Miami
Justin Podrabsky TE Idaho
Daniel Quave OL La-Lafayette
Joel Ross CB Appalachian State
Tim Scott DB North Carolina
Jameill Showers QB UT-El Paso
Ray Vinopal S Pittsburgh
Lucky Whitehead WR Florida Atlantic

------------

Not so sure we are better at "finding" them.

We just have a rep of paying them. Seems like every year we lead the league in money paid out in bonuses and what not.
