There's gonna be someone we need at #27. I'm just not sure we'll actually fucking pick him. For as much as we've established the need for oline after over a decade of failure, we've really failed to invest draft picks in defensive lineman since 2005.

So what is the real deal with this RB class? Leading up to the draft I heard all about how deep the RBs class is but now that the draft is upon us it doesn't sound to me like any of them outside of the two that have already been drafted are really that good. Well, according to much of this board anyway.
Nah, it's just a few degenerates on the board who didn't see any Big Ten games. Don't worry about them.

Unless he killed his ex.
What are really the odds of that being the case though. I mean at some point someone has to take the risk. I mean the guy was projecting as a top 15 pick before his ex girlfriend died and the police wanted him for questioning.

I really liked Ajayi above all the rest purely from reading draft profiles but it sounds like that knee is going to be an issue and knock him way down in the draft. Is it just that most of these guys are considered good pieces to a backfield rather than good 3 down-type RBs?
I think there are a good bunch of RBs that could be three down guys, they just might not be a fit for a zone blocking scheme. There are some second tier fits like Mike Davis. Some are grinding types that are not special, like Cobb and Langford.

I would rank them Ajayi, Yeldon, Duke Johnson, David Johnson, Tevin Coleman, Javorius Allen, Mike Davis, David Cobb, Jeremy Langford, Karlos Williams. There are some sleeper types like John Crockett, Zach Zenner and Josh Robinson.

If we don't get a good back, we aren't looking very hard.

I watch the Big Ten, and enjoy watching that conference actually.

I'm just not a Coleman fan.

I can watch three full games and make up my mind. Sorry, don't like him and if we take him, get ready to be disappointed.

I'm really surprised you like Duke Johnson so much. That guy runs scared of contact. Breaks very few tackles. I mean when you watch him there really isn't much special to his game. Not going to be great in pass protection Your opinions confuse me.

It is more that I dislike Coleman the more I watch him. Johnson is an excellent zone runner and the scheme fit matters to me.

Am I foaming at the mouth for him? No. But I like him more than Coleman.

Trust me, I have tried to like him. Just can't.

i think he's going to do really well in this league; especially in a zone type of system

im not going to pretend i know how to pick a running back over another. If we pick a running back at 60 that our scouting dept liked over the others, i am fine with that. As long as we are addressing the situation with a high pick i will feel a lot more comfortable.

You can look at Coleman and see some Murray traits, so I get that.

But the more you watch him you see him do things that Murray did, little things. Like making yards after contact, get five yards out of three. Take a good look at this kid and I see a McFadden clone, which is not exactly a compliment.

I never bought that there were five or six (or more) really good ones in the first place. What, the college game is a passing game more than ever but this year all of a sudden there are all these great running backs? Not buying it.

I think it's probably like the draft has gone so far and probably will continue to go: Gurley and to some degree Gordon, then a bunch of either specialty backs or guys who are just meh overall.

Read a Tweet from Archer that said we had designs on Dupree and ended up settling for Jones. That is two damn years in a row they took the player we wanted more. Hopefully the trend from last year continues.

It just happens to be a better year than most. I think the class is pretty legit compared to recent years.

It's funny the more I watch the guy the more I like about it. I actually like a lot of the RBs in this draft, but one of the few guys I don't like very much is Duke Johnson. I don't get it with him. I don't care if he ran in a zone scheme or not. He doesn't break tackles, he isn't fast and he is afraid of contact. He sucks in pass protection too. I don't see it with him. If you're going small RB Ameer Abdullah is a way better pure runner and isn't afraid of contact in the least. Which tells me he will at least be adequate in pass protection eventually. The fumbles are the only thing that worry me there.
