Wisniewski lands in Jacksonville

Posted by Mike Florio on April 18, 2015, 1:15 PM EDT

Center Stefen Wisniewski has a new home. Finally.

The free-agent lineman, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Raiders, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Jaguars, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. The decision came after visits and/or discussions with the Titans, Jaguars, Patriots, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Bears, and Washington.

The short duration of the deal isn’t surprising; at this stage of the free-agency process, the big money is long gone. So he’ll try to have a big year in Jacksonville and hit the market again in 2016.

A Pittsburgh native, Wisniewski played from the moment he arrived as a second-round pick in 2011, with 61 appearances and 61 starts. As a rookie, Wisniewski played left guard; he shifted to center in 2012. Wisniewski became displaced in Oakland when the Raiders signed Rodney Hudson last month.

A big favorite around here during his draft. I assume he hasn't lived up to the hype if this is what his 2nd contract looks like. Still, good move for them since they have shit on the interior line.

It's an injury thing. He is still recovering from surgery I believe.

Jesus, no wonder Scandrick is being a little bitch. He really is missing out. But that's what happens when you take that early extension. It's a risk for both sides.

Texans sign safety Stevie Brown

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 29, 2015, 5:45 PM EDT

Stevie Brown is heading to Houston.

Brown, a veteran safety who played the last three years with the Giants, is joining the Texans. Brown told Kim Jones of NFL Network that he agreed to terms with the Texans today.

The Texans brought Brown in for a visit last week, and it was believed likely that he would end up in Houston. With their depth at the position, the Texans are trying to trade safety D.J. Swearinger.

A 2010 seventh-round pick of the Raiders, Brown bounced around the league from Oakland to Carolina to Indianapolis before landing with the Giants. He had a breakout season in 2012, with eight interceptions and two forced fumbles, but he wasn’t as good a player last year.

He hasn't been good for the Texans but look at our backup safeties for fuck sake. I'd sign the former second round pick at least for depth and special teams. He is still young, like 23 years old.
