2015 Dallas Cowboys preseason schedule

Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas Cowboys reporter

IRVING, Texas -- A preseason schedule normally does not draw much excitement, but that could change this summer if somehow Adrian Peterson ends up with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys will host the Minnesota Vikings at AT&T Stadium in the third week of the preseason, which is generally the dress rehearsal game in which the starters play the most snaps of the exhibition season.

Even if Peterson remains with the Vikings, the storyline figures to be prominent that week.

The NFL released the preseason schedule Thursday afternoon but the exact times and dates will come out later. The Cowboys are looking at a late July or early August beginning to training camp in Oxnard, California. Teams can report to training camp 15 days before their first preseason game.

The Cowboys will open the preseason at the San Diego Chargers for the second straight year the week of Aug. 13-17. They will make their first trip to Levi’s Stadium on Aug. 20-24 to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

After playing the Vikings, the Cowboys will close the preseason with a meeting on Sept. 3 or 4 against the Houston Texans.

Last year the Cowboys had to adjust their normal training camp schedule because AT&T Stadium was booked the third week of August, so they could not play their first two preseason games away from home.
