I don't think I'd put much weight into that. If he was scheduled for a visit I'd be concerned.

Who cares? If he replaces Weeden, does it really matter? If Romo goes down, we're shot if either of them takes more than a few snaps.

What's wrong with Schaub as a backup?
You mean except for the fact that the Texans concession vendors actually named a sandwich the pick 6 in honor of him?

In the hands of the great QB whisperer he may lose the yips. Then again maybe not.

There you go. We have Wade Wilson. Sign him up.

The fact that he is become completely ineffective QB.

His last season in Houston and the few times he played for Oakland showed how awful the guy is now.

I know we aren't going to sign any superstars for that role, but it would be nice if we went after someone who actually made sense for once. Is it THAT hard to get a decent backup QB?

Sheesh.

There isn't crap out there now at the position. The fact he is even getting interest screams that.

According to Werder and Fisher, we aren't interested now that other teams are "bidding" for his services. That said, he has played okay in a run-based zone blocking offense that requires him to drive the bus. That may be where their logic is coming from.

Right, he's a backup, there's mostly dogshit on the market, and we have Weeden.

That said, if there's at all a bidding war for him, no thanks.

There was a time I would have taken Schaub in a New York minute but I prefer Weeden over him at this point. Schaub took a physical beating with the Texans and it changed his mental process.

A bidding war for Schaub is somewhat baffling.

Ravens sign Matt Schaub

Joe Flacco has a new backup.

Matt Schaub, who spent last season holding a clipboard in Oakland, has signed with the Ravens, according to Peter King of TheMMQB.com.

The Ravens had been looking for a backup with some experience, as the only other quarterbacks on their roster are the totally untested Keith Wenning and Bryn Renner.

Schaub is experienced, having been the starter in Houston for seven seasons. But he looks just about washed up at age 33. Last year he barely got on the field for the Raiders, and the year before that he suffered through a miserable season in Houston.

The Ravens hope Flacco will stay healthy and Schaub will never see the field, but if something does happen to Flacco, Schaub at least gives them the presence of someone who has started in the NFL. Even if it’s been a long time since he played well.

So, is signing Schaub a shrewed move now that it was Ozzie that signed him?

No but he will never see the field so I'm sure plenty of media people will fawn over it. I don't think Ozzie is as good as he get credit for.
