Wasn't room for him once we signed Hardy. You figure Dallas keeps 4 to 5 ends on the roster at most. Hardy, Mincey and Lawrence are all already locks. You'd like the next player or two to kind of be young developing players. A draft pick, Ben Gardner, or both.

Fisher says McClain probably won't resign with Dallas.

You have to love Fisher. He will probably write an article that he is coming back in like a day. No better way to make sure he is right then to play both sides.

You've got to wonder how McClain fell off the map by December and took Wednesdays off seemingly just because Romo was.

I think we got lucky with the time we had from him and need to move on.

It sucks, because it puts more pressure on the draft, but if we find a powerful interior lineman it will make the LBs we do have much better. Hardy will also help, whenever he gets to play.

I think he's too flaky to be trusted, way too high maintenance. It also seemed like he checked out late in the year, it wasn't just the concussion.

Just draft a new MLB. Ben Heeney in the 4th/5th would be awesome.

We are pretty badly thin on the outside right now. You have Lee backed up by Brinkley in the middle. On the outside you have basically Hitchens probably ready to start but who else? Is that what Andrew Gachkar was signed for? Are we hoping Holloman comes back? Wilber?

Brinkley is a MLB only. Gachkar can play inside or outside. Hitchens will likely start at one spot. Holloman is gone.

Brinkley is a pretty drastic downgrade from McClain, but if the guy is a complete retard, I guess you have to move on.

Yeah, I view Brinkley like McFadden. A placeholder for a guy we get in the draft. They are looking at McKinney. I don't care for that guy, give me Kendricks or Perryman instead.

I like McKinney quite a bit, but not in this scheme. I don't want him covering the deep middle.

Agreed with both of you.

I made some of these same points in my thread about prioritizing between our 3 LB FA's shortly after the season ended.

McClain was awesome in the first half of the year, and the nastiness and attitude he brought was great. But as the season went on, his impact lessened with each week. His playing time decreased due to various reasons, and even when he did play, he wasn't making the same plays that he did to start the year.

While I certainly appreciated his attitude, I felt like most of the team had taken on that mentality by the end of the season and they didn't really need to look to him anymore for inspiration in that regard. We've got some pretty tough guys on the team now and I think this team has forged a new attitude and toughness that we're going to see next season as well, so we don't need him for that anymore.

It would be nice to bring him back for cheap, but I honestly won't really care if we don't.

I think we really need to move Lee outside.

I don't see what everyone's problem with Wilber is, he played well enough when Rolando went down. I think he looked better in the middle than on the outside. He's a big guy with long arms who can thump in the middle on running downs and drop into passing lanes a lot more easily than he can cover one-on-one in space. Kind of reminds me of Akin Ayodele and Scott Fujita. Not a world beater or a guy who stands out but he takes care of business. Gachkar is a good guy to compete with him and it kind of indicates to me that we are going in a bigger direction at MLB, looking for guys who can hold up behind a smaller DL.

SLB - Hitchens, MLB - Wilber/Gachkar, WLB - Lee isn't that bad of a starting 3. The only depth for OLB is Rivers, so I wouldn't mind drafting a guy there. There's not much left in FA.

LB in the first then? Wouldn't surprise me but I don't think I'd be happy about it.

we would have to reach on Shaq Thompson or hope for Alvin Dupree to be there. Now, if we could trade down to maybe the beginning of the 2nd and pick up a 3rd or 4th I'd be all over that - drafting Thompson or maybe Kikaha whom I know nothing about but has fantastic statistics from 2014
