It's good not to just throw money away, but I'm not sure that means it's always a good thing to not bring key people back.

I'm not convinced we're the Patriots just yet. We had one good year where a lot of things went right.
Kinds annoys me that Cobb and Bulaga give their team a home town discount whereas our guys are in it for every last penny. Carter and Durant are not big ticket players yet we lost them anyway.

Here is where Irvin is too close to the team. All he is thinking about is loyalty over financials.

Although I wanted Murray back...and still do if he does not sign there...I laud the team for showing some fiscal restraint.

No doubt. You would have never seen this with this organization 5 years ago... or even 3 years ago, really. It's nice.

Why spend on a guy with warts even if he is cheap? Spend the money saved on the defense and draft a RB. The draft is deep with RB talent and this OL was built so that they didn't have to pay for a RB. Use draft resources rather than $'s to fill the RB need.
A rookie isn't going to have warts? I get what you're saying but I'm talking about something like a 1 year/$1M deal for someone like Ridley who will take a dirt cheap short-term deal to try and reestablish his value for free agency in 2016. Good rookie RBs can usually step in and play well but considering the Cowboys should not/do not trust Randle and clearly see Ryan Williams as nothing more than an emergency call-up, they could use an experienced vet to split carries and add quality depth. Ridley went for >1200 yards and 12 TDs a couple years ago. He has talent and could do well behind this OL. Why not bring him in if he can be signed for minimal money?

Now we have to be smart with that fiscal restraint...extend Dez or bulk up the D.

I think they have to do both because it'll be hard to get good defensive players with Dez making 15 mill or whatever it is this year.

I want a top flight rookie to be the primary answer, but we definitely need a vet just be safe.

I would love Spiller or Bush. They'd bring an explosive element that this offense lacks and would be weapons on both the run and passing games.

I'd endorse DeAngelo Williams or Ahmad Bradshaw. I am looking for low cost guys.

Spiller will get a multi-year deal from someone. He won't get a ton of money but if Dallas plans on spending a high draft pick on a RB I'm not sure I'd want to pay Spiller. If they could get Bush on a cheap 2 year deal with not a lot of guaranteed money I'm OK with signing him as a 3rd down back. He just turned 30 though so I'm not sure how explosive he still is.

Sure. Bradshaw has been so injury prone I'd probably pass on him though. But the idea is right, IMO. Sign a cheap vet and then draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round (or at #27 if there is someone they love there).

The problem I see is that we seem locked in with Randle and Dunbar...one of them needs to go to open up a spot.

If Murray truly does leave, I would like to have Gordon or Gurley, preferably Gordon at 27.

Eh, if we can improve the defense at that spot, I'd rather use the premium pick on that side of the ball. With the depth at RB, we can wait until round 2 or 3.
