Its a business these days with the players. Very little rivalry so I highly doubt this causes any locker room strife if he comes back.

You know what would be great? Chip Kelly sells on him on coming to play with his old pal, Sam Bradford, then trades Bradford in a packaged deal to get Mariota.

I think so. The real difference is that the reports say he reached out to Philly, not his agent. For that to be so public, along with his taking down of Cowboys related photos, showed some immaturity on his part. I don't think guys will hold it against him that he is trying to get paid, but the way he is going about it is pretty gay.

Maybe Kelly knows bringing him in will piss his team mates here off and when Kelly tells him to go away he knows he's done here as a player cuz some may not take him back. It's a ruse...
I just can't see it.

Adrain Peterson contacted Jerry. I'm pretty sure it happens more than we hear about. Im just not bothered by it and he may get some hazing about it from the players. I just don't think its going to cause a stink to anybody but the fans. Once he scores that first touchdown everything will be forgotten.

Murray is still the number 1 trending topic on Twitter. This is going to be a huge story for the media. Everyone is going to be watching like a hawk. Not surprising with it being one that involves the Cowboys.

Exactly.

He wouldn't be the first player, nor will he be the last, to go from Dallas to a division rival. It sucks when it happens and we certainly all will wish them the worst (:lol), but we all get that it's part of the business and this type of stuff happens.

From Deion to Brandon Noble to Chris Canty to Dwayne Harris, we've seen it plenty of times.

The big difference this time is that these guys were on those teams' radars and they jumped on them right away to bring them in. They weren't players who were in the middle of negotiations with the Cowboys who then turned around and personally called those teams themselves to engage in talks.

Those are key differences between this situation and ones from the past.

He's handled this entire ordeal very poorly, and he's going to look even worse if somehow Philly isn't truly serious about paying him what he wants.

Of course...all will be forgotten, but it seems a bit dramatic right now. Even the stuff about him not being contacted by the team for some time, yet he was just at a basketball game with Garrett, Witten, and Romo.

If he comes back, I'd welcome him, but now more than ever I am intrigued by what else is out there...be that Peterson or a draft pick.

After Gordon and Gurley I'd go with Ajayi and Coleman. Backs like Abdullah and Duke Johnson are a little undersized and I don't think would fit our system as well, especially with block and blitz pickup. I think we're looking for more of a power back and with blocking ability.

The one knock I hear about Gordon is some fumble issues. Gurley's is the concern about his knee, but that could be dispelled by his pro day and prodding. Ajayi and Coleman are late 2nd to 3rd rounders but we likely can't gamble they'd be there at the end of round 3.
I like Ajayi a lot

I hate to be over dramatic about this, but am I the only one who thinks going to Philly for a visit would be like a point of no return?

This is a hated rival and a team we were having on the field scuffles with just 2 months ago. I know it's a business, but isn't there something wrong about him dining out with the Eagles brass, then hanging out with some of their players and having a good laugh over a few beers.....then coming back to Dallas and acting all normal with his teammates here who hate the guys in that locker room?

And it's not even about the whole "OMG he went to the rivals!!11"

I'm talking more on the personal level with the Cowboys organization and locker room.

Am I alone in thinking that maybe this is something he can't come back from?

Just seems like there would be a small sense of betrayal in there.
I think it is just a business to most guys. Do you get mad at your coworkers for talking to another company about a job? Management may not like it, but the locker room should be fine. Only position that doesn't apply to imo is QB since they are basically an exstention of the staff on the field.

That's a bit different though man.

This isn't war, but these guys do battle it out against those other guys and there is a genuine disdain for some of them. Those are natural feelings that develop when you're in a heated competition of some sort.

You can't tell me we didn't truly hate the Giants about 3 or 4 years ago and that our guys dislike for Brandon Jacobs and Osi Umenyiora wasn't real.

I think some guys would've been bothered had one of our key FA's have done back then what Murray is doing now.

You can't tell me Dez's dislike of Malcolm Jenkins and other guys on that defense is fabricated. I just think some of these guys will be bothered by it, but they'll all most likely get over it once the season starts if he ends up being a Cowboy.

It's a business for everybody. Murray has to get as much as he possibly can, because absent some historically unprecedented performance over the next 3-4 years, his stock will never be higher. Combine that with the general devaluation of the position, and this will be the largest contract, the most amount of money, he will ever make for the rest of his life. I doubt there is a player in the league that would begrudge him that, regardless of where he ends up.

And management has complete control. They've decided what he is worth. They decide what they offer. They could throw so much money at him that he re-signed before FA, but they chose (wisely, IMO) not to do so. They could hear about the Philly trip and cave and say let's get this done. But they have other priorities, aren't willing to overspend on him, and if that leads to him going elsewhere, so be it.

Unless it comes out that we were seriously low balling him and offering less than 5 mill a year, then my stance in all this is F Demarco Murray.

Go get AP or draft a top RB, and definitely sign some real defensive talent, and all this Murray nonsense won't matter one bit.

But if we don't use this money to get REAL defensive talent?

Oh man.....
