I don't agree that Parnell is "solid." How about that game where he didn't even move off the line when the ball was snapped? He was horrid all day.

I think he's a weakness. Just because he's not Rob Petitti bad doesn't make him good or even average.

He absolutely was solid and played well down the stretch. The team has confidence in him too because when Free went down against Sea they kept on running effectively right behind him.

Parnell is a good NFL player. He's not a difference-maker and he's also nowhere near the meltdown, turnstile, penalty-machines we have too often in Dallas.

Neither the running game nor pass protection took a step back when he was in. In fact, on Parnell's first series I think Murray blew through the right side for a TD in Seattle.

I'm not saying he's going to be a great starter for us, but Dallas could do and has done seriously worse.

And you know seriously worse is out there waiting.

I wouldn't mind Parnell on a team friendly deal. If he's willing to sign a Beasley type contract it gives us a chance at having a solid starter at a low price.

So you're just going to dial up 1-800-Starting RT and get one?
If he was starting quality, he would have taken Free's job in the several times he has had a shot. If he were starting quality, he would be at the top of our list to re-sign. He'd be doing what Shrimp Beasley is doing right now. He didn't produce consistently. We'd be dialing 1-800-Swing T to get another Parnell.

Durant was at the top of our resign list. Your logic sucks

Durant played surprisingly well last season before getting hurt and can play all 3 positions.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the angst with him and the resigning is all about. I thought he played well.

It's not angst but claiming he was the top priority in our free agency signing is straight retarded. He was just easier to resign. Has nothing to do with the teams desire to bring back other players slated for free agency.

Wasn't necessarily aimed at you. There was some angst in another thread about it.

No, I think it had more to do with having an exclusive period to resign your best options and he was clearly one of them. Parnell isn't.

Parnell has reason to wait and see if some line-poor team like the Jags offers him legit starter money out of the blue. Durant doesn't have any such reason to hope. Ease of re-signing is the issue, not priority.

I'd like to keep our options open in case the value is there at RT in the bottom of the first. If we can get another plug-and-play 5 year starter that's an upgrade from Free, need on the DL shouldn't force us to reach for one.

:lol

It's stupid logic. We have no idea if the Cowboys have attempted to work out a deal with Parnell. The fact that the Cowboys don't have a new deal in place with Parnell doesn't really mean anything in terms of what we think of his talent. Same thing with Rolando McClain for example. Or Dez Bryant. But I guess Durant is just a better option for our team.

The fact that we got deals done with Beasley and Durant has more to do with the dirt cheap amount those guys will sign for then it does anything. For example Beasley will supposedly be cheaper this upcoming year against our cap then he would have been under the restricted free agent tender for example.

Well it looks like this discussion won't matter. Sounds like the Cowboys are closing in on a deal with Free.
