Did you check the record book.
I really like Murray but lets not pretend that he is some all time great. He got a shit ton of carries behind one of the best offensive lines I've seen in the NFL in a long time.

A lot of running backs have had the benefit of eceptional offensive lines over the years and few have achieved what Murray did. So let's not pretend that he is just a run of the mill RB.

Let's not pretend he has to be classified as one extreme or the other. He's a good back but not the GOAT.

I said Murray owns the record with the Cowboys for a season and he does. That makes him an exceptional RB even if he never plays another down for anyone.

Okay, Sooner homer. Like I said, he's a good back. But I suppose good wasn't an illustrative enough adjective for you.

Holding a record by definition is exceptional.

Well that probably speaks more to our lack of talent on defense then it does to what Murray brings to the table.
I tell you if Romo and this OL get the equivalent of an Adrian Peterson in his prime-- the defense can kiss my ass for all it would be worth. :)

Seriously, great backs become the focus of the entire offense, while great defenders can be double-teamed, run away from, or schemed around.

If you told me I could get JJ Watt for a season but would be forced to run John Randle and Lance Dunbar, I don't think I would do it.

So Murray could be exceptionally lucky according to you?
He's lucky to be running behind this OL and with this QB who can attack the whole field.

And yes, Dallas was also lucky to have had him strong and healthy in 2014.

What you need to look at is value above replacement. It's not just what a guy like Watt brings you or Murray brings you. You have to consider their level of play compared to a replacement. There are no other guys in the NFL that can even come close to doing what Watt does. On the other hand, there are other RBs in the NFL who would probably put up similar numbers to what Murray did last year behind this O-line.

Refer to my earlier post. There have been lots of good OLs in the past in the NFL but few RBs have attained his production behind them.
