Red Sox To Sign Yoan Moncada
Kid sure as hell looks the part. These top Cuban players have been panning out over the past few years. Lot of money for an unknown but those are the risks. Worthwhile risk for a deep-pocketed organization like the Red Sox.

We have been seeing more finished products though. Little different when talking about a 19 year old prospect. Granted a 19 year old prospect who would probably be the top pick in the MLB draft based on talent.

Well right, he is probably the youngest Cuban 'sensation' yet but that is why I said it is a lot of money for an unknown. Puig would probably be the closest comp because he was only about 22-23 when he made his debut & I believe he had gone about a year without playing organized baseball at the time he was signed because of all that was involved in his defection, etc.

On the subject of young Cuban sensations, Jorge Soler turns 23 today. I think he is going to be a hell of a player. Soler Power!

Drug addicts are always treated lightly when they admit to relapse rather than waiting to get caught by a test. Happens in the courts a lot as well.

I'm all for him getting the help he needs and maybe he will put his career on hold himself. I just don't think with his history he should be allowed that. Doesnt he get tested in spring training? If so then I suspect a different motive but then again I just may be an ass.

I'm all for having a low tolerance for players using, especially with a history like his. But you want to promote taking responsibility to addicts and the easiest way to do that is for there to be some reward for admitting relapse.

He should still have to test and face the punishment under the drug protocol MLB has in place. Props for him coming forward, but does not change that he broke the rules.

Apparently Mets and Rangers are talking on Dillon Gee with Mets trying to buy low on injured Profar.

Have to say I would be OK with that, I think. Maybe I'm just soured on the approach to rehab they took with him, though.

I'd be ok with it too...we have excess pitching and gambling on young talent is smart.

Actually, I would be, too. Not that it's Profar's fault really, but he has been in rehab for like 4 years it seems like.

FWIW Keith Law tweeted last night that the Gee for Profar rumor was "nonsense".

Very well could be. The Rangers have had interest in Gee in the past though. Mets seem to want lower level prospects now anyways.

It would be a great gamble for the Mets if there is any truth to it. If the Rangers are just tired of waiting for Profar to get healthy I could see them moving him, but only if they truly feel they can contend for the postseason this year and the Gee will help them get there.

The way I see it from the Mets perspective...it gives us a chance to really good a full year look at Flores and decide if he is the guy. As an aside...I wish they had let Tejada go and let Matt Reynolds battle for SS with Flores. Guy can hit.

Yu Darvish threw 9 pitches yesterday, only one touching the 90's and then quit with a triceps injury.

Welcome me back to baseball season, Rangers fans.
