Use your words Jerry.
I luv Dez, but let's not forget he's not exactly MENSA material, on the other hand Murray seems pretty sharp, so I think it's easier to "negotiate" with Demarco. There is a distinct difference between the way they are referring to Murray versus Bryant.
Obviously one is in the get-a-long gang and one is not.
There is no way he is signing for anything under 10 mill guaranteed nor should he.I'd go for 5/25, assuming guarantees not over 7.5 mil. That's about half of what we gave Marion Barber (7/45 16 guaranteed)
5/25 at 10 mill guaranteed sounds about right. There is no way he is signing for anything under 10 mill guaranteed nor should he.
The Salary cap is jumping up over the next 3 years so that lessens the blow moving forward, if we can get at 5/25 12 mill guranteed I am all over that.
I'd stick with Murray as well...the continuity of it would make quite a bit of sense. He does a great job in protection and catching balls out of the backfield too. The fan in me though kind of geeks out about watching Peterson behind this line and in this offense. So, consider all things equal, 5/25 with 10 million guaranteed. Murray or Peterson?
Its a hard decision for me, but I think I would have to stick with Murray. Peterson will be 30 in less than a month. Even with as good as he has been I couldn't give him that contract. The decline happens too fast. Murray on the other hand just turned 27 and could have 3 or 4 more very solid years left.

He would never sign a two year deal.No way in hell I'd give Peterson a 5 year contract at his age.
I think the appeal of Peterson is you could get away with giving him a 3 or maybe even two year deal.
Like I said, I'd go to 3. Anything more, he can pound sand. As it is, that third year is high risk for a 30 year old running back. I would feel more comfortable giving it to Murray. He would never sign a two year deal.
If Murray would cut out the damn fumbles, then this wouldn't even be a debate for me - it would be Murray all the way.So, consider all things equal, 5/25 with 10 million guaranteed. Murray or Peterson?

AP fumbles more than Murray. If Murray would cut out the damn fumbles, then this wouldn't even be a debate for me - it would be Murray all the way.
I think he is the most well rounded RB in football and he's got plenty of elite football left in him.
While I was pissed at that fumble in Green Bay, I've gotten past it a bit now but I haven't and won't forget. That's the only reason I'm even entertaining the idea of getting AP.
He's not the most sure-handed guy in the world, but he's no worse than Murray and if he played his best football, it trumps everyone else's best football so the reward would at least be higher.AP fumbles more than Murray.
With a signing bonus of 10 million the length of the contract really does not matter Thats very little dead money moving forward. No way in hell I'd give Peterson a 5 year contract at his age.

That's exactly right. The signing bonus is what matters. After that the length of the contract is just a way to spread the signing bonus out further to create additional cap space now in exchange for a loss of cap space in the future. With a signing bonus of 10 million the length of the contract really does not matter Thats very little dead money moving forward.
My only issue with Peterson is he as good in pass pro as Murray, after what he did with that knee injury I can easily see him being a productive back for 5 more years.
