Dez Bryant's reps will remain the same

February, 13, 2015

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- The end of the partnership between Jay Z's Roc Nation and CAA earlier this week will not affect the representation of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.

According to Kim Miale, Bryant's Roc Nation agent, the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver will continue to be represented by Miale and CAA's Tom Condon.

Bryant moved to Roc Nation last fall and Condon was also added to help in talks with the Cowboys. The Cowboys had been in negotiations with Bryant's previous agent, Eugene Parker, on a multi-year deal but never closed on a contract.

In all likelihood, the Cowboys will place the franchise tag on Bryant for 2014 before March 2. Teams can designate players as franchise or transition players as soon as Monday. The Cowboys last used the franchise tag on outside linebacker/defensive end Anthony Spencer in 2013. They also used the tag on Spencer in 2012 and paid him roughly $19.4 million over those two seasons.

Bryant was named to the Pro Bowl for the second straight season -- but did not play in the all-star game due to a lingering groin injury -- after matching his uniform number with 88 catches for 1,320 yards and a Cowboys' single-season record 16 touchdown catches in 2014.

I think this is why elite teams like the Pats don't pay out the ass for these headache top shelf WRs.

They cripple the cap, they are fucking assholes, and an elite CB or defensive minded coach can erase them.

Tony Romo and soon Dez will take up way too much of the cap for two players. Just not worth it.

They also have an all timer QB that nobody else has and a system that works. And oh yeah, all timer head coach too. Kinda makes things a little easier.

Key is do your homework and avoid the divas. But your last statement is hilarious...what elite CB? There are maybe one or two in the whole league at any given time.

No, most good teams are going to have their best at QB, pass rusher, WR...probably in that order. And those are invariably going to chew up your cap if they are any good by the time they get to their second contract.

I know you got the "ELITE!" thing going on with Bryant, but there is nothing in this article that says a thing about there being a problem.

Tom Condon is a respected agent. Now if you said he was going with some neophyte from Roc Nation, I would understand. But he's staying with the agent (who also happens to be Romo's as well) who is not known for being a rep like Rosenhaus for diva WRs.

When is the last time a team with an elite WR taking up a huge amount of cap space won a Super Bowl?
