Report: DE Greg Hardy will not return to Panthers

According to a report from the Charlotte Observer, the Carolina Panthers will not bring defensive end Greg Hardy back to the team next season. Hardy had been seeking a long-term contract with the Panthers around this time last year, but the team elected to place the franchise tag on him instead.

Hardy then played only one game in 2014 before being placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List due to his domestic violence issues. Hardy was found guilty of assaulting and threatening to kill ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder last year. He appealed for a jury trial, which begins next week.

If Hardy is found guilty again, it would likely trigger a minimum six-game suspension under the new personal conduct policy. Whether found guilty or not, Hardy's upcoming free agency will be an interesting case. We've already seen that NFL teams will not shy away from signing players with baggage -- the Bills just signed former Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito, who was at the center of a bullying scandal two years ago -- if they are able to contribute on the field.

And Hardy, when on the field, was wildly productive in 2012 and 2013. He totaled 26 sacks and 141 pressures in those two seasons, making him one of the most productive pass-rushers in the NFL. He also accumulated the fourth-highest run-stop percentage of all 4-3 ends in each of those two years, according to Pro Football Focus. Teams are always in need of pass-rushers, and Hardy is one of the best.

"Hardy's going to get more of the benefit of the doubt just because he's a Pro Bowl-caliber player in his prime," former sports agent Joel Corry recently said. "So that's going to tip the scales for some owners that [think], I know you've got issues, but this guy can really play. If he couldn't really play, he might be out of the league."

Perfect fit for the Cowboys. Even if he has a 6 game suspension coming Dallas could easily weather that storm, what we really need him for is the post season.

Do we want to bring in a woman beater?
There is nothing ok about hitting a woman, but I don't really care that much about what my players do off the field. We just need to keep him out of trouble for the sake of keeping him on the field.

Fuck that guy. I can play devils advocate for Ray Rice. But Hardy is a nut job who will kill someone eventually.

I'd take him...certainly want good guys on the team, but I can find a place for both him and Peterson on the team.

This may sound bad, but unless it's killing someone or molesting a child or something, I honestly don't give a shit what these players do off the field if they can help us win.

My concern with Hardy is he seems a bit unstable and I'd hate to invest in a player who can't keep himself out of trouble, and then we're left in a bind.

“On May 13, 2014, Greg Hardy attacked me in his apartment. Hardy picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in his bathroom. I have bruises from head to toe, including my head, neck, back, shoulders arms, legs, elbow and feet. Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats that I completely believe. He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns. I landed on those weapons. Hardy bragged that all of those assault rifles were loaded. Landing on those weapons bruised [my] neck and back. Hardy screamed for his “administrative assistant” (Sammy Curtis) to come into the room and hold me down. Curtis came into the room, grabbed me from behind and held me down. Hardy and Curtis then took me into the living room area. I wasn’t nearly strong or fast enough to escape. I begged them to let me go & I wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. They took me out into the hall, pushed me down & went back inside his apartment. I crawled to the elevator and ran into CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department)"
That's not A guy punching his GF in the mouth, that's a mad man who will likely pull a Chris Benoit at some point.

So then don't let any of your family members or friends date him. All I want him to do is play football.

Damn, I want to win too but would rather have at least a little sense of conscience.

You guys are monsters.

Ahhhhh, I see where you are going with this....
He needs someone to take him under his wing.

Forget Calvin Hill, he needs the Jerry treatment.
