I am not aware he has had any backups to develop except maybe a couple. Kitna was already developed as was Orton and Weeden. McGee and now Vaughn have come along but they are not candidates to unseat Romo.
McGee never developed into a candidate to take over the backup job either.

A pretty grand fail i thought. Another 4th rounder shat away.
It was a big part of why I lost interest in developing Romo's replacement while he's still on the roster. No one we draft is going to get practice reps until Romo is gone.

I think I pointed that out. He just didn't have what it takes. I am not aware that Wilson selected him.
Either way, my above point that he wasn't getting after Romo for his mistakes (reportedly) stands. He wasn't doing his job and he doesn't have any success developing even backup QBs to hang his hat on. He also didn't do a great job salvaging Weeden either. As far as anyone can tell he's just a friend of JG's from the 90s who stands around holding a clipboard for a living.

I'd much rather have a guy we could promote to OC in a couple of years if Linehan scores a HC job.

I would definitely love to have a prospective OC as the QB coach...I don't get that from Wilson.

You think Weeden is a good prospect to be redeveloped? What development failures has Dallas had? One of the chief complaints about the organization is they havent drafted any good QB prospects for several years.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. The guy doesn't have a single success to point to in his career here or elsewhere and he's 55 and he's never been considered for a promotion anywhere. As far as anyone can tell, the guy just takes up space and collects a check.

Anyways, back to the original post. I like that we are using Columbo in the role Pollack had last year. I admired his grit and attitude as a player and hope he can pass that on to his OL. RT is something we need to address and he has plenty of experience there.

I am not making any excuses. You brought up QB development and I pointed out the miserable record of the organization to draft any solid prospects. This is your way of diverting your own example of someone else's failure. Wilson has nothing to do with drafting QBs. The last legitimate prospect that Dallas drafted was Aikman. There has been a long list of miserable candidtes over the years that has nothing to do with Wilson or any other QB position coach that has been with the organization since Jones ownership tenure.

You did read the other posts about his jobs in Oak and Chi, right?

I still fail to see why this is an issue for you. Some posters want another QB coach, apparently you do not...based on nothing positive or negative.

I dont care one way or another. The only thing i brought up is why people bash him ( or anyone else) where there is no apparent reason. As to him being a flop elsewhere that may be the case but what does tha have to do with what he has done or not done in Dallas? Tell me about that. That is what i have an interest in.

How about in 2007 we got a kid named Matt Moore and our QB coach was able to...

Did you share some positives that I/we all missed?
I dont know how many times i have to say this. I am not promoting or defending Wilson. My question remains the same. Why do some bash him yet cannot definitively say why. I have gotten several comments ranging from he hasnt developed any QB in Dallas to he was bad elsewhere. My responses have been what QB potential has he had to bevelop here in Dallas with thier miserable record for drafting QBs and what does his failures elsewhere have to do with Dallas. A lot of coaches have had bad careers at one place then changed and had success. I just wonder why some label him with no apparent reason for doing so. I really don't know what job he has done here. Romo was here when he returned and that position has been producing well statistically for some time.

There was nothing about his current tenure with Dallas but that's fine.
Yes there was, Clay lined out a really good one above...if Linehan is the first person since Lee to get onto Romo when he messes up then Wilson was not doing his job.

Sorry. I didn't know Clay was around the team that much. He also said it was widely known but how widely? It has eluded me.

You do seem to have the pulse of the team.
