Not just no but HELL NO.What do you guys thinking of bringing in Trent Richardson if we go with the RB by committee thing?
I know he's sucked out loud in Indy, but it wouldn't hurt to bring him to camp. Make him battle it out in camp for a job and let's see where his heart is at. If he has the desire, he could provide us some quality carries especially behind this line.
I by no means want him to start, I just think he might be ok as a rotational guy.
San Diego did this too.Not to diminish Murray, but lots of teams just plug and play without having one player in mind. NE is a great example, Bal with Forsett, Den with Anderson, you can go on and on. With our OL most RBs are going to have success. Just need to be smart, sounds like Jerry is in regards to Murray now, but we can still have a dominant run game if we stick with the philosophy behind this line.
Randle should be used in relief. He is a good backup but he isnt physically built to be the primary rock carrier. He was okay as a college back but at the pro level he cant take a sustained load. All I can say is if we depend on Randle, we will regret it.
The one reason I don't think we'd go RT is I can't see us having 4 first round OL and three in a row. Not gonna happen. With that in mind I'd say RB.Hypothetically, at our low draft spot, with all things being equal, the BPAs are at RB, WR, RT, TE...who do you pick?
I'd go WR first, RT, TE, RB last
He is 6' 210 lbs? How else should he be built?Randle should be used in relief. He is a good backup but he isnt physically built to be the primary rock carrier.
Hell no. We can find RB in other ways. I don't give a shit about BPA.The one reason I don't think we'd go RT is I can't see us having 4 first round OL and three in a row. Not gonna happen. With that in mind I'd say RB.
It's so hard to say how to determine BPA when comparing a RB to DE. A RB who goes to a few probowls over his career isn't nearly as valuable as a DE who goes to a few probowls over his career. It's just a fact of life. A RBs grade needs to be knocked down a few pegs based simply on the fact that there is a ton of supply in the NFL. If you don't do that your team will just continually find RBs to the the BPA in the draft.Hell no. We can find RB in other ways. I don't give a shit about BPA.
I don't think it was that he wasn't a good enough RB, I thought it was because he was not a viable ST player option. But they wanted to keep him on the PS for a reason. And Williams was evaluated as not good enough, considering Williams an option right now is only based on draft pedigree.
Did Dunbar do ST? In preseason, Williams looked like the toughest of the backup runners to me. He hit holes hard and fast and hit people hard just like Murray. If all he is asked to do is be a RB and not ST then maybe he'd be fine.To be fair I have no idea what they evaluated to think Dunbar deserved the roster spot over Williams. I understand only wanting to keep 3 RBs on your roster and Randle proved to be a pretty good runner this year. I'm still not sure why in the hell we kept Dunbar on the roster and held him out of preseason.
I think some saw more than really was there from Williams, I'd love to see him take the starting spot and be all everyone thought he was going to be coming out of college, but with things like what you just mentioned it doesn't seem likely.I don't want to shit on Williams, he did look good in the preseason, but there was a rash of injuries this year around the league and no team tried to sign him off out PS.
.......I don't give a shit about BPA.
He should have 7 more pounds. He is 6' 210 lbs? How else should he be built?
The "oversupply" of RBs is kind of exaggerated. Yeah the 2008 draft had some great 2nd rounders, a fine 3rd rounder, and notable 1st round busts, but that kind of depth is rare as shit. It's so hard to say how to determine BPA when comparing a RB to DE. A RB who goes to a few probowls over his career isn't nearly as valuable as a DE who goes to a few probowls over his career. It's just a fact of life.
