On hand or in my hand?Do you keep them on hand for such an occasion?

If he has a shot at a Dez Bryant type talent I'm all for moving up.You can bet on him moving whether it's up or down. In the 90's when we drafted low we moved down some due to cap concerns. But we also tend to move up if he panics over a player.
The one thing we need to do though is draft smart. Most previous seasons when we've had a late pick we get all crazy taking projects and guys with great measurables but not much production. At least this year we do have some major needs so I don't think we need to worry about turning this into one of those special teams/potential drafts. I just hate wasting picks moving up unnecessarily or losing out on better players by moving down. Sometimes it's fine to just stay put and let the players come to you.
As of now, I feel the same way. Goldman was a big reason why FSU was able to win so many games this year even though Winston frequently shat the bed in first halves. It's way too early in the process to know how things will shake out after the combine, more scouting, etc. though. If we pass on Goldman for Phillips I will throw a fully formed turd at the TV.
It definitely depends on the situation. But for every Dez you have trade ups for Mo, Ekuban, LaFleur, Carver, etc.If he has a shot at a Dez Bryant type talent I'm all for moving up.
agreed, ten-fold.I'd take Goldman over Phillips too but I trust whatever route Marinelli has us go in terms of the DL.
I mentioned in the early entries thread that I was shocked to see Kiper and others give Phillips a 1st/2nd round grade.Phillips in the first was a shocker. I wanted to see if we passed on Shelton for him.
Sounds like the epitome of a project-type player with "potential". Potential over production is a great way of turning a pick into a bust.Phillips is still pretty raw, but he's got tremendous upside.
AyuhIf we pass on Goldman for Phillips I will throw a fully formed turd at the TV.
Many of us said the same thing about Dontari Poe because he was raw and full of "potential".Sounds like the epitome of a project-type player with "potential". Potential over production is a great way of turning a pick into a bust.
He is the next coming of Haloti Ngata IMO.I'd be interested in knowing where Mel has Shelton. Many others have him in the teen's in round one. But isn't he more of a 3-4 NT?
Makes me ready for the Mayock Invitational.A little late to the party, but if anyone wanted an easier to read version of the mock:

I admittedly don't know much about him, but just reading about raw potential tends to scare me off. At least I do trust Marinelli when it comes to evaluating defense personnel, especially on the DL.He is the next coming of Haloti Ngata IMO.
Would love to have him, but he will go between 10-15 unless something weird happens.

This early in the process I worry less about the specific player in a mock draft and more about the actual position. I'm just glad to see us actually being projected to draft a DT. In an ideal world the best player available at 27 would be a DE but if not next up for me would be a DT.Ayuh
Phillips before Goldman is ludicre.
I've seen him anywhere from late first to early 3rd. I think there will be better options at 27.I'm kinda curious about the Markus Golden kid from Mizzu. What's the board opinion of him as a late 1st?
