I like the patience the Bears are showing in their HC search. I never understood why teams are in such a hurry to sign a coach while the playoffs are still going on. To me it's often times a rush to failure.

Why is it so hard to wait 2 weeks to ensure you cover all your bases? More times than not when teams rush these decisions they end up searching for a new coach in under 3 years.

If there's a hot coordinator out there, like Dan Quinn, why wouldn't you wait a few extra weeks to interview him and gauge his interest in being a HC? WGAS retreads like Del Rio are a dime a dozen and there are plenty of them to choose from. I thought the Raiders rushed the hire and will be paying for it over the next couple of years.
I think if you strike fast you have a leg up on hiring assistants. If they are waiting on Quinn I think they are making a mistake. Not sure what qualifies him as a big time coaching prospect right now...nothing changed in their D after Bradley left, so that tells me the Seattle D is more a product of Carroll than the individual assts there. That is why Bowles was a better candidate to me because there is no doubt he was calling the shots on his side of the ball in Arizona.

Team also had a chance to interview Quinn during the first week of the playoffs. If they truly wanted him, they had a chance to confirm it then. That's why Quinn is speculated to be getting the ATL job. They are willing to wait until after this weeks games when they can interview him a 2nd time.

I know people hate/ dislike Garrett here; but let's say season didn't go as it did and Garrett is gone. I think out new HC would be Norv or Del Rio. Can you imagine.
Jerry does like his comfort level. I'd say he would've just promoted Linehan or Marinelli, 0-16 notwithstanding.

With the pool of head coaching jobs drying up, former Bills head coach Doug Marrone is apparently lowering his sights.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Marrone was at Everbank Field Wednesday, ostensibly to interview for the vacant Jaguars offensive coordinator post.

This is bizarre. Why give up the HC position in Buffalo if you didn't already have another HC gig lined up?

Must be another HC who can't deal with the front office.

Raiders might come out of this with Trestman as their OC and Mike Smith or Fangio as their DC. Not bad at all.

Very bizarre indeed. The way he left you assumed that he had a job lined up.

This would bother me very much. Fangio is good.

Looks like Fox is going to the Bears. No big surprise there.

Fox is official. He should be good provided he can hire an OC capable of handling Cutler. I don't know if that guy exists though.
