Face it, a lot of shit went right for Dallas this year.

- Unbelievable string of gambles in personnel that just worked out.
- Solid health overall, outside of Sean Lee
- Easiest AFC schedule

The biggest FAIL of the year was the overconfidence and mind-numbingly poor blitz recognition in the first Washington game and resulting injury to Romo. That combo lost us two (maybe three) games and cost us the #1 seed.

I think we were fortunate that that's only as bad as it got.

We need a Charles Haley type splash acquisition. ~coughsuhcough~
Hypothetical:

Denver is way over the cap since they splurged to get to the Super Bowl this year.

Say Ware is cut loose in a cost cutting move.

Eh?

I'm talking about as a situational player, not a long term starter.

Frankly I don't feel like he's a good fit for Marinelli's system. I'd prefer to have Spencer over Ware at this juncture.

If the money is right and Marinelli wants him I'd be all for it.

Nope, doesn't fit the attitude of this defense.

No.

I don't want to bring back any of the soft, no leadership having players from our past.

IMO, a big reason why the character changed is because we got rid of a lot of those chokers, so the last thing I wanna do is bring them back.

Nah. I've been as vocal as anyone about thinking cutting him was a mistake. I still feel that way.

But now, there's no point in going back. We are definitely in need of a pass rusher, but I'd rather get someone younger at this point.

Are they going to be able to add someone who can be an impact rusher? Those guys are expensive in free agency (not that many of them even get to free agency unless they're older players) and the Cowboys are not going to have much cap room for free agents from outside the organization. And I'm assuming all of the top tier pass rush prospects in the draft will be off the board by #27. Maybe they can find another guy comparable to what Lawrence was this year but I think that is about as well as they'll be able to do.

I would definitely see what can be done about resigning Spencer. It may be too much of a gamble and definitely does not fit in with the 'younger' idea but he did really start to come around at the end of the season. I don't know if it was finally feeling confident in his knee, trying harder because he was playing for his next contract, or a combo of those things, but he looked pretty good. They might have to go with a combo of drafting a player in the late 1st or late 2nd and signing an older vet to a cheap short term deal just to cover their bases.

We have our secondary and DL...so we all have some glaring weaknesses.
I think pass rush is our only glaring weakness, I would take our secondary over both.

We are set up long-range better than both teams age and talent wise.

Based on that other article floating around, it looks like we can do anything we want to with our cap. We could afford just about anyone with a few tweeks to current contracts. Question is, would it be worth it.

Whether it's worth it depends on who it is and how close we think we are.

I think we are really close. And I think Suh is worth it.

Add Suh and Lee to this defense? Yes, please.

We need to strike while Romo has a couple good years left.

I think we are close. You still have to pick the right players to throw the money at and like I have said before Suh is the type of guy who will still play great even after receiving the big contract. He also isn't too old where he is on the decline yet and physically he doesn't look like he is breaking down at all. My only concern with Suh is that he could be liability on the field for penalties in crucial situations with his antics.
