I havent seen or heard about what we did to contain megatron. not even one deep pass.

although, same could be said about a quiet Dez game

Looks like we both sold out to stop the other team's #1. Tate and Williams both got big long TDs as a result. Dez's one big play was essential though.

I agree with you that I don't think it was PI, but with the way the rules are these days, who knows. Mike Periera said it was textbook PI while Aikman, I believe, said it wasn't PI.

Faceguarding is PI. If Hitchens had his head turned, then it's not PI.

Again, a non-Cowboys fan could say it's not necessarily a bad call if not called, but it's worse to pick up a flag that was called...cuz the ref did make the official verbal announcement.

Kind of like an instant replay that reverses a call, but it's not 100% obvious.
Faceguarding is no longer a penalty... as long as there is no contact.

Here's the deal with that whole penalty/no penalty:

When Hitchens touched Pettigrew, the ball was still in Stafford's hand... which would have made the penalty illegal contact. However, that was not what was called on the field, the referee that threw the flag signaled "pass interference". Pass interference is called when there is contact WHILE THE BALL IS IN THE AIR... Hitchens, while he was faceguarding (which is legal) never touched Pettigrew. So by the rule, there was no pass interference, and they rightfully picked up the flag. So you ask: "what about the contact?". The "illegal contact" was never called on the field, so the referees were unable to enforce it post hoc.

It's the same deal with plays that are reviewed... in the process of a review, should the referee see a penalty that was not called or not called correctly, there is nothing that can be done about it.

For all the people complaining about the call, the referees were absolutely correct in picking up the flag for a pass interference penalty (because there was none), and the penalty for the the illegal contact (wich should have been called, but wasn't), it falls into the same realm as all of the other bad/missed calls that happen in virtually every game.

I agree with the ole' Jer though...they've got to seriously look at adding PI calls to the docket to be reviewed.

There have been too many games turned around on PI calls...the game was never meant to be in the refs hands, and with these PI and illegal contact calls it has really skewed the game at times IMHO.

I get the league wants offense offense offense, but you have gotta take some of these games out of the refs hands.

I'd like to see something along the lines of it being a challengeable play or something similar.

I'm very happy for Romo.
Everybody in the bar I was at loved his celebration when he was lying on the ground after throwing that TD to Williams.

Good for him.

I feel like there should grades of PI. Egregious ones get the full penalty yardage and others just get 10 yards and automatic 1st. Even call the ticky tack ones with a redo of the play.

It's nice that romo finally got a game from the defense to hang his hat on. For years, roethlisberger, flacco, Brady enjoyed games where the defense kept the team within n striking distance.

Tough as nails performance by Romo. They beat the hell out of him. I feel a lot better about the Packers game than this one.

Me too. I could see that some here were ready to pin the loss on him had we lost.
Romo missed some throws, but all in all considering the pressure he was under, he did absolutely fantastic. If anyone here would have blamed it on him had we lost, they'd have been mistaken. I would have put it on the lack of preparation from the coaching staff. I think they believed their own BS to a certain degree. Either way, it will be interesting in GB next week. I think we are going to have to dominate on the ground to even have a chance at winning.

Still feeling so good about this win.

I'm just amazed at how resilient these guys are, and that was evident even on the final play of the game.

Lawrence could have easily gone into a shell after screwing up what should have been the game-clinching play. But after screwing that up, he stayed focused and came right back and made the play of the year to seal the deal.

That is what this team has done all year. They set aside the adversity and refocus on the task at hand. These Cowboys are something else, and I couldn't be prouder.

BTW, this DeMarcus already made a play more important and more clutch than the other DeMarcus ever did. This is why this defense is stepping up where the others used to fail - they've got guys who make plays when it matters most.

there's no comparing the two and the attempt reaks of Bipo style "Dez is not eleet!" desperation.

Ware sealed the game against an undefeated New Orleans in 09. Which was a crucial game, and the last close game of our last playoff run. He also didn't hand the team a new set of downs instead sealing the win.

That being said I'm psyched for this win too.

Yeah, every good player who ever played for a shitty team is better than any draft bust on a good team. :jerk

NYC sports radio and CBS sports radio. All the callers, all of them, calling in about the PI call and bitching about it.

I can't find it, but after they picked up the PI flag, didn't Detroit punt it on a 4th and 1?
Yes. They lined up and tried to draw Dallas offices and when it didn't work they punted.
After I posted this I see someone has already addressed it.

I buried Carter for a long time, but he has been excellent the past 5-6 games. Seems to always be in the right spot and has really improved his tackling. Wilber deserves props as well...kind of the forgotten guy, but when called on he does everything right. The thing that impresses me about him is he does not get dragged or give up an extra yard when hit, takes runners down immediately. He could be a big help with Lacy too.

They should have known no one was in the offices, they were all at the game. :unsure
