For me, it would depend on how/who they lose to.

A loss to Detroit would be devastating. A loss to Green Bay, as long as it isn't a 2009 like beat down , that wouldn't be a shocker.

I'm guilty as charged because I have let some homer emerge the last couple of weeks. I would be more disappointed than pissed but I would still be ticked off to some degree because it is doable this season, the result of a season with no truly dominant teams.

I was snapped back to reality by this little graphic that's been floating around teh interwebs that compared some aspects of this year's team that parallel the '92 team in ways.

Whoever figured it out evidently forgot that we had a top 5 defense that season. I saw it and thought, "Okay bud, I know you're hyped but you're grasping at straws here".

That said, this season has been the biggest surprise that I've gotten from a Cowboys team since Parcells' first season. I would love to catch lightning in a bottle and just continue the roll but if it doesn't happen, I can live with it.

This is a home game for Stafford. I wouldn't be surprised if he threw 5 tds. Didn't he lead a comeback to bite us in the ass last year? I can see this game going either way. I think Dallas will win, we are hot right now, but this isn't a gimme game.

That's why I wanted the Lions, because we have not one, but two inexcusable losses to them in recent years.

2011 and 2013.

We owe those bitches.

oh hell no. Much noise will come from my seat.
Don't think that's the noise they were wanting but I guess it will do.

I will be upset if we lose but it will be worse the earlier we lose. Dallas doesn't get too many of these chances so I don't want to waste it.

Mincey. Crawford.
So because they don't go middle of the road and say the usual "we are playing against a great time, with a great QB, and we will need to play our best game to beat them" BS, that has you worried?

None of us are in the locker room, but can you imagine the amount of shit-talking that goes on in there?

This team has some confident/cocky MFers on it. It's part of what has made us what we are this year.

Basically what I'm saying is that a lot of the players have the attitude that they are going to go into Detroit, and kick the Lions' overrated asses!

They live with that mentality.. it's just right now, a couple players have portrayed that confidence to the media.

Talking to the media about being confident in their team won't change how they're going to play this Sunday.

We are one of the youngest teams in football I believe. So no matter what happens on Sunday I'll view this season as an overall success in building this team in the right direction. That being said, any time you go 12-4 and make the playoffs, your team's expectations should certainly be higher then a first round loss.

I think we have a much greater chance of having our young guys build off of this if we win on Sunday.

Losing to Green Bay or Seattle would still be disappointing to them, but it won't be viewed as a failure. But to go 12-4, win the division, but lose a wild card game at home to a team you're better than would almost erase what they did in December. They would come out of that loss feeling like they let themselves and the fans down.

It would be a much different feeling and mentality going into next season if we win this game or lose it, and I want to make sure we go into next year with full confidence that we can finish the job after what we did this season. Losing this game allows doubt to to creep back into their minds next season, and I don't want that.

Only thing that worries me a little is we're coming off two games in a row against teams who mailed it in. Maybe "mailed it in" is the wrong term for the Colts, but they definitely laid a huge egg that day. And the Skins just didn't seem interested. A good, tough, talented team that is highly motivated is going to be a big change from that. And worse, the Lions are coming off a tough game against a very good opponent, so they should be more prepared.

Still, though, I don't think it will matter. I don't know if we beat GB, but this game will be a beating along the lines of the second Philly game. I honestly don't expect it to be close at all.
The Skins played their ass off against Philly the week before. They wanted to beat Dallas, but we jumped out on them early and it was over. Dont forget Washington beat Dallas in Dallas earlier. Credit goes to the Cowboys here. We had very little to play for either.

Our offense is rolling right now. 41 PPG in December.

Honestly, this season...this team...is good enough to win the Super Bowl. I'll be disappointed if we don't win it all. Romo is not getting any younger and then offense may not be this good again for a long time.
Agree all the way. I will not be happy with a playoff appearance, and we are way past the "just win a playoff game" mentality.

This team has shown that they can put up points against anyone.

My biggest fear, though, is that they get away from what got them this far. Please keep running the ball and keep the defense rested.

Everything clicked this year. Surprised the shit out of me, as I honestly didn't think they'd make 8-8. Truly a perfect storm of a season, but anything less than the NFC Championship and they're just pretenders in my book.

Romo has got to get over the hump. This is the season to do it. Kinda like back in 06 & 07, they had that window and couldn't get it done. Clearly a different team now and although this year's success is a surprise, this playoff run will decide if Romo really deserves to put on the pedestal with Staubach and Aikman.

This is a big game for Wilcox IMO. Would be awesome if the Georgia Southern Eagle could show out against the UGA/GT tandem.

Represent!

It depends on how we lose, IMO.

If its a close competitive game and we lose, so be it. If we blow a double-digit second half lead, I'll be pissed. If we lose because Garrett decides to Garrett, I'll be pissed.

Truthfully though, I've never been more confident going into a playoff game since the early 1990s. This one just seems like a cake walk. Another 40 burger coming up.

Is the purple cloak/black pants pic saved on the site somewhere?

Just in case, that's all.

We are the better team than the Lions, even their radio stations are saying that. I don't think we'll lay an egg right after coming out red hot. We can def hang with Green Bay even at Lambeau field. We are a gritty, fight til the end kind of team and undefeated on the road. We are legit contenders and all the other teams know this and they know we are the scary dogs they may have to face to get to the SB.

We are 12-4 like the Seahawks and we are 12-4 like the Packers. I think Dallas is right on a similar level with those teams. The problem is Dallas has to go to Green Bay and they have to go to Seattle. So those teams are naturally going to be favored over us. With that being said we are undefeated on the road, so home field advantage clearly has not impacted the Cowboys like you would traditionally expect.

Losing to Detroit would be similar to me to the 2007 loss to the Giants. You don't want to have this type of season then be 1 and done in the playoffs. That's a failure.
