Some people are just trying to set up who they are planning on blaming if the team loses.
IF we lose, I think it'll be because our lack of talent finally caught up to us.

Think about it. Who is going to shut down Megatron? Who's going to apply pressure on Stafford? Can this O-line hold back the likes of Suh and company and protect Romo? If Suh can get his hands on our QB, I fully expect him to try and injure Romo's back. If Romo tries to give himself up, I can see Suh or another player falling on top of him and slamming him in the back with their knee. Then what? Will Weeden win it for us?

These are valid questions.

People expecting nothing less that a blowout should cool their jets a bit.

I may be overconfident, but I feel we are the better team than the lions . We should violate Suh properly.
And yes, I spent good coin on tickets.

Who said they are expecting a blowout?

I already said it's certainly possible we could lose to Detroit. But if we lose, it won't be because we were out-talented. Green Bay, sure. Not Detroit.

I would be pissed. Now if we win and then lose at GB I won't be nearly as pissed. I would have the attitude that we really exceeded expectations and have some hope for next year.
Same here. I just don't think Detroit is very good. Their D is tough, but our OL is better and we have a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Their O is extremely one-dimensional and Stafford has never been very good in big games.

As for GB, it's the Packers in Lambeau. There's no shame in losing that game. I'd be disappointed, sure, but not outright mad like I'd be if we lose at home to the Lions.

First time I'll use this, but wait & see.

My grudge with Jerry Jones is his inability (or ability to prevent) to build a consistent winner. However, he 'lost' me because winning isn't #1 to him.

Making the playoffs one year doesn't change things. The Redskins won the East 2 years ago -- so what? Did that change perception of Dan Snyder?

We COULD lose. I think it's silly to assume we can't. Especially at home where we've pooped our pants a couple times. Also Detroit's fucking dirty. Hurting Romo is a one way ticket out of the playoffs. That being said, the Cowboys are the better team, by a significant margin. I'm really hoping Dez catches fire and pulls in 4 TDs.

This is exactly how I felt going into December, and how I'm gonna feel heading into Green Bay. But as Geng pointed out, expectations have changed and rightfully so.

We should beat this Lions team and there's nothing wrong with us expecting them to do so. Lose this game, and it changes the entire outlook of the season and what we hoped to gain from it.

Truth.

Gotta set up the grrrr.
Smitty is trying to pick yet another Garrett fight.

This has nothing to do with Garrett. No one even mentioned him.

This team has raised the bar. And against my better judgment, I have faith in them.

And, they are facing a team whose QB is something like 0-17 on the road against winning teams.

Sure, lots of things can happen that we don't expect. But Christ, we are favored by 7 or 8. It isn't unreasonable to suggest we should win this game and that we probably did something wrong if we don't.

As an aside, the Lions haven't won a playoff game since 1991...when they beat us. :unsure

I'm up here in Packer land and so I watched the Detroit/GB game part of the time. GB won that game, but it wasn't like they killed the Lions. So I don't know if that speaks to the Lions being good or the Packers being so-so. I can tell you the radio talk around here has been Dallas coming here the following week and the concern about it. Alot of the concern centers on Rodgers health for the game.
That being said, I think we beat Detroit and GB both. Our running game is better than GB's and for the first time since Rodgers has been good, I trust Romo as much this year. Seattle should be epic barring this team blowing it before hand. And yes my expectations are higher and it will be a disappointment if they lose to Detroit. Shame on them.

In 10 playoff games versus Detroit, Green Bay and Seattle, the home team is 10-0.
