I really think Dallas is the best place for him. Wright, while not a premier guy, was very good for the Mavs. You need those types off the bench. Smith does not have the athleticism he once did, but he can do things that Wright couldn't, like pass. So instead of finishing at the rim, he might kick to Ellis for a corner 3. Wherever he goes, Smith will have to re-invent himself and be a 20 min a night role player.
Why is Dallas a Better place for him than Houston?

He is not a center and he has a starting spot waiting for him in Houston where the team is set up to play to his strengths as a passer and finisher.

Josh Smith has committed to signing with the Houston Rockets, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. He clears waivers at 5 PM today.

If we can somehow pull off a trade for Dragic we have to vault to the front of the pack.

As is I like our chances with Smith he gives us the 4 defender we needed for Aldridge and Black and he can rotate some with Ariza on Durrant.

Now if we can just get him to stop shooting that broke Jumper.:picard

All I can say is.................Thanks?:unsure

But really its a 82 game season 1 game is nothing to get worked up about, plus its Ibaka's fault for not switching on that screen moreso than Brooks.

I will say that Brooks probably needs to be on the hot seat but I bet Durrant holds the key to that.
It's not just 1 game. These are ongoing issues.

Brooks doesn't have an offensive system to fall back on. If you know any other Thunder fans (I believe Chocolate Lab mentioned he was one) ask them about the plays Brooks "draws up" in late game situations. All the plays are pretty much nothing but tough circus shots from long distance. They never draw anything up that creates an open look for one of the Thunder players.

Fat chance getting him to ditch that 3 point shot. That's something you guys are going to have to live with.

Rockets play a wide open style too, so you know Smith is going to take about four 3 pointers a game.

Uh, he has only averaged 1.3 3-point shots a game over the last 3 years.

This a myth that has stuck, his issue is the long 2 and that's a shot that's banned in our offense.

Because he replaces Wright...also not a center. Him being a starter is FAIL...he should be a 20 min guy off the bench.

If you think him and Wright have the same skill set then I don't know what to say.

But I do know you have no real idea of what Houston needs at the 4 so I will leave this alone.

I don’t...I pointed that out in an earlier post that you quoted.

Nothing personal, just thought he was a better fit in Dallas, but I see it got your panties in a bunch.

Heck of a debut for Josh Smith, wasn't it? Rockets are gonna be very dangerous if that's what they can come to expect from him for the rest of the year.

I missed most of the first half because I was watching the Thunder game but from what I saw he looked pretty good our there. Especially on the defensive end. He also stood out on the offensive boards.

What shocked me though is that he took 21 shots. First night with a new team where he's supposed to be the 3rd option at best and he gets off 21 shots?

Were they running the offense through him early to get him comfortable? I didn't notice him taking many shots in the 4th quarter.

In the 1st half, he hung out around the perimeter more than I would have liked and even took a quick 3 that barely touched the rim. But in the 2nd half and into OT, he looked like the Josh Smith that made a name for himself in Atlanta.

He used his athleticism and aggressiveness to get scores closer to the basket which included some nice finishes at the rim. He hustled on the boards and even got off a few nice passes.

I think the Rockets are going to be a force. Even before getting Smith, I liked what the Rockets were doing. Harden is playing at an MVP level and they are getting more from the bench than most anticipated they would. I also liked the addition of Cory Brewer who is good solid pro.

I think they have all the pieces to go all the way in the Western Conference, but it won't be easy because as you know, that conference is loaded with an insane amount of talent and great teams.

Yeah it was a hell of a game and Smith looked good especially considering he was winging it for the most part.

I hate we gave up that 10-point lead in the 4th, Mchale went to long with that small lineup.

Memphis went small in the 4th so he had Vince Carter on him and they ran some stuff for him, also they started denying Harden the ball and he was the release man.

Considering Howard was in foul trouble and he only took 4 shots his offense was needed, 21 shots were a lot but only 3 could be considered bad shots, he should of had 25 to 28 points but he missed some easy stuff at the rim.

I was surprised he got 21 shots because it did not seem like he shot it that much
