Kyler Murray is the QB for Allen HS where I live. He is also the nephew of Emmitt Smith's wife. Allen will probably play for the State championship again.
I thought their next game is for the state championship? But yea he's a helluva qb and really looking forward to seeing him play at the next level

Could be. I have lost track because of all the seasonal social functions. I was out of town last weekend also. I will check with my resident expert on the team tomorrow at workout.

I know that but he is behind a 5 star recruit from last year who still has 2 years left.
I don't get this. Are you saying that top flight QBs should only sign where there haven't been any other top flight QBs sign recently. Most programs take one QB per year.

Maybe he's smart enough to realize sitting a few seasons and learning will have him more prepared for when he does compete for the job.

I am not saying this should be done but it is what usually happens.

Unless Allen flat out sucks he is looking at 2 years on the bench not many highly ranked recruits are willing to do that these days.

One year to redshirt, one year competing and three years to start. Sounds like a pretty good opportunity to me.

Pretty much.

Or, one year to RS, one year to sit and learn, then compete in spring and see other 5 stars at QB winning the job so he transfers to UCF. Starts 2 years.

What 5-star recruits are so willing to redshirt and have patience.

It looks like maybe Murray is one but its not the norm, which is why I am surprised he is still going to A&M.

It's more normal than you think. When you're an elite program that pulls 5 star QB's yearly, they know that is a likely possibility when they sign. Florida got the #1 duel threat QB in the nation last year and he RS this past season.

It is very common. Extremely common. Most big time programs sign top QBs every year.

There is now a bunch of talk that Murray is looking at flipping to Texas and taking 5 star DT Mack with him. Who knows but I sure hope that isn't true. Screw that, I'd rather the top recruits go to aTm rather than the Whorns.

And nobody was entrenched ahead of him.
