11:03am: The discussion remains open because Tampa is working various three and four-team possibilities, Topkin tweets. Souza is in play, tweets Rosenthal.
10:58am: Hedges is not in the deal, Bowden adds via Twitter.
10:48am: The deal under contemplation includes 19-year-old first baseman Jake Bauers, right-handed pitching prospect Joe Ross, the fellow young righty Burch Smith, and two other players from San Diego’s side, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com tweets.
Topkin cautions that an “even larger deal” remains possible, which means that there is no timetable for when something may be completed. (Twitter link.)
10:23am: The Rays have several balls in the air at the moment, a source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). A deal involving Myers and the Padres is just one component, and there are “other teams” involved beyond those two.
