Great, now Romo has a broken rib on top of his back problems. Ugh.

EDIT: Nevermind, they are saying that he has been playing with a broken rib for 2 months. You can say what you want about him choking, but the dude is tough.

Ravi I see you have been converted about Philly. You previously thought they were smoke and mirrors and would be exposed. Welcome to the dark side. Philly is a really good team and can play With anyone as long as Sanchez is afforded protection.
It still amazes me how many people here dismissed them but were certain we were legit when we too were benefitting greatly from smoke and mirrors ourselves.

I knew all along that Philly was gonna be a bad matchup for us.

You knew that how exactly? We were a much worse defense last year, but did a good job defending them. You knew all along because you are playing the doom and gloom card, so when bad shit does happen you can tell everyone I told you so.

No, it was easy for anyone with half a brain to notice that this defense was going to break because their early success was due to Marinelli adding new wrinkles coupled with an awesome running game keeping them off the field.

Our DB's were playing the same way they are now and our pass rush was an issue from the start, so there were quite a few people here who knew it was only a matter of time.

That combination was certain to doom us against pass heavy teams like Philly and Green Bay, and it didn't take a prophet to know that.

Again, this has nothing to do with doom and gloom or I told you so's. This was evident from the start if you just paid attention to how the defense was performing instead of blindly buying into the phony statistics and rankings.

I like out chances vs Seattle and San Francisco, but hate our chances vs Philly and Green Bay. We're simply at a huge disadvantage against teams that can air it out.

Is Philly that much different last year than they are this year? We know our D was worse, but we somehow held them down last year. Still though, you knew it would be a bad match up. Probably were breaking down game tape, well done.

I'm hoping for some DL help early in the draft. But unfortunately we need everything on defense except MLB. We should be set at CB with the resources we used there but that obviously isn't the case. Between FA and early in the draft we need to shore up the front 4. But with so many needs on defense, by the time we fill all of them I'm afraid the OL will be nearing retirement.

If we can appreciably improve the DL, our other needs on Defense won't be quite so pressing.

Though I would love to see a legitimate free safety back there.

I'm not so sure the linebackers are at all an issue, assuming McClain and Lee are back and healthy, and Hitchens continues to develop.

I wouldn't say we really "need" any LBs. If McClain and Lee are here, if we can bring back Durant, who shouldn't be expensive, and Hitchens is a three-position backup, that's not really a need.

I wouldn't invest a ton at CB either. Like it or not Claiborne will be back. You look for a value selection after the first round at some point and sign a guy to a mid-tier deal in FA maybe, that's it.

DL is the position that should get the resources, and safety shouldn't be messed with unless it's a true center fielder.
I'm actually ok with our corners, I think Scandrick, Patmon, and Moore are decent enough. I would not bring Claiborne back under any circumstances, I would probably cut Carr. I would like to see a solid midround prospect from a major school added.

If we properly address the DL that should be enough.

Philly is not that good. They are a legitimate playoff team, mostly because they are well coached. But they are definitely smoke and mirrors.

Of course, we are too.

Carp, last year was last year.

Just because a team was built similarly one year to the next doesn't mean the same outcome is in order.....you know that.

I'm going by what I see right now, and that is we have a bad pass defense and zero pass rush, and that makes us a bad matchup for explosive passing attacks.

Also, while our pass rush was nothing special last year, it wasn't this awful either.

Hatcher, Selvie, and Ware all got to the QB or at least commanded the opposition's respect.

No one is getting to the QB this year, and we certainly don't have anyone who is commanding double teams along the line.

Even with our crap pass rush I don't fear the Eagles IF we can stop their rushing attack this time around. If we can use the extra prep time to key on their bread and butter run plays and put them in long downs, make their hurry up offense backfire, we can beat Sanchez even without great pass rush.

Not saying we can shut them out, but I think we could hold them to 24-ish points. If we let them rip off big runs again, it'll be another slaughter, even if Romo plays much better.

I knew Philly would score, but I didn't think our offense would play that poorly, so I expect a better game from then this time around.

Romo was off, but the offense as a whole sucked that day. Receivers couldn't get open and the line had one if its worst games of the season. I hope the extra 3 days gets them all focused for this next game.

Ding, ding, ding...this is the right answer. The pass rush and pass defense meant very little to that first game because McCoy straight up killed us in the run game. It was not the vaunted Philly passing offense that was our undoing.

My ray of hope is that the downfall of every hurry up offense, whether it's Jim Kelly or Chip Kelly, is simplicity. They don't do much game planning, they run fewer plays and rely on execution. I think Marinelli has a chance to adjust his defense and maybe prepare some run blitzes to keep McCoy under control.

That run by Randle was eye-popping , he definitely has much more burst thn last year and that cut at the 2nd level was something I did not know he had.

I love Murray and would not mind him back at the right price but he is the most awkward looking explosive back I have ever seen in my life.:lol

Do you realize Murray will shatter Emmitt's single season best for carries and yards? I would never have expected this. Bootleggers boy comes through again.
