Jason Witten's TD has special meaning

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- When Jason Witten caught 4-yard shovel pass from Tony Romo for the Dallas Cowboys’ first touchdown on Sunday, he could not help but think of his family.
It grew by one last Friday night.
Hadley Grace Witten checked into this world on Friday, joining brothers C.J and Cooper and sister Landry and mom Michelle. The football will soon be tucked near Hadley’s crib as a memento.
“Obviously there’s a lot of emotion there being born late Friday night and then playing Sunday and being gone,” Witten said. “I wanted to get a touchdown for her. That will be something that will be special.”
The timing could not have been better. Michelle was due early in December, but knew her fourth child was going to come earlier. Witten missed the Cowboys’ walk-through on Saturday but was able to make it to the team’s charter flight in time.
“At that point I was just making sure she was all right and everybody was healthy and she was good with me leaving,” Witten said.
And if she wasn’t?
“Just glad it didn’t happen,” Witten laughed.
Witten finished with four catches for 30 yards, including a 15-yarder on the Cowboys’ game-winning drive. He now has 922 for his career, passing Torry Holt for 15th in league history. He also has 56 career touchdowns, which is sixth most in league history for a tight end.
That it came on a shovel pass was even more surprising.
“It was a great call by Scott [Linehan],” Witten said. “We have been working on that for a few weeks. I don’t think they were expecting that. I thought it was a rushing touchdown but they just told me it was a receiving touchdown. Hey, take them any way we can get them though.”
