It had to happen. Florida needs to score points. There is no excuse to not.

After what Melvin Gordon did yesterday I'm half expecting Nebraska to announce something about Bo Pelini today.

I know it's not all on Stoops but the program is certainly in a rut. It would help if he actually had competent assistant coaches.

I hate to say it but the Sooners remind me of the Dallas Cowboys in that Mike Stoops and Josh Heupel are only Coordinators due to nepotism. Instead of seeking out more qualified coaches who are better for the job Bob Stoops would rather employee his brother and his former QB.

And I agree Trevor Knight sucks. I've never seen an OU QB spot the opposing team 7 points every damn week. If he's not throwing pick 6's he's throwing critical red zone INTs.

Also, Knight's tunnel vision is maddening. If I had to put a number to it I'd guess that 70% of his pass attempts go to either Sterling Shepard or slow ass Blake Bell. He rarely gives the other WRs a chance to make a play. I watched the highlights from yesterday's games and the other WRs made some nice plays, and they made plays in previous weeks when Shepard's been out. Knight just doesn't know how to read a defense and relies too heavily on Shepard.

But as inconsistent as Knight and Heupel have been I think the biggest problem is Mike Stoops and his unimaginative defense. It's nothing but CBs playing 10 yards off the WR and busted zone coverage. I know we don't have elite talent on defense but they shouldn't be as bad as they are. Players play with no confidence because they don't believe in the system. You can see it in their body language. They know things are jacked up.

It's up to Stoops to do the right thing instead of remaining loyal to friends and family. That's the only way this thing gets turned around.
I understand the Texas Tech runaway, Mayfield, is eligible to play next season. Maybe he will be an answer for Knight.

It amazes me that after such supreme QB play for years and years OU and ttu can't roll out a good QB.

ESPN is saying he's "stepping down" at season's end.

I guess that's code for "you're fired but can finish out the year".
Why let him finish the year? Get it over with, dump him.

I know in OU's case it's the coaching that they're receiving.

Josh Heupel should not be a serving as the OC/QB coach. He's just not good enough.

I know the high school player ratings are hit or miss but he's inherited QBs that were 4 star QBs and has done absolutely nothing to make any of them better.

All of our other OCs turned 2 and 3 star QBs into polished winners. The 4 star QBs that we've recruited and that are under Heupel look unprepared and limited.

I think that is part of it but some of it is bad luck and transfers.

I bet Fla is wishing they went harder after Strong when they had a chance.

Although I think they settle for Chip Kelly.

Mahomes looked legit at times yesterday. Lots of pressure cause him to flush a lot, but overall I thought he did well.

Sure, he did well...is the answer? I don't know. He will be playing baseball in the spring and will miss that development.

If I were them I would make a play for Jim Harbaugh. His situation in San Fran is still kind of uncomfortable, isn't it? San Fran might be happy to let him go and promote Roman.

If Marinelli decides to go work with Lovie Smith in Tampa at the end of the year, would you consider Muschamp as his replacement?
I would. He's shown to be a really good D coordinator. I take my chances with him.
