Maybe, but I still think Gordon is a much better player and his game will translate right away to the NFL.
I prefer Gordon as well but he probably ends up going before Abduallah.

I'd also love a guy like Yeldon, Duke Johnson or Tevin Coleman in the 3rd, but I'd consider them in the 2nd as well depending on how the draft has fallen.

I don't think he is the much better player at all. No RB means more to his team than Abdullah does.

Now having said that...I think those guys go in the top 2-3 rounds and I am not all that interested in spending that early of a pick on a RB. I'll take Langford in the 4th...or possibly Allen from USC.

If we let Murray walk and sign Peterson you wouldn't take a guy like Gordon or Abduallah in the 2nd?

Our offense should be based on the running game and I don't want to pin all our hopes on a 30 year old RB, even if it is a future HOF'er. An AD/Gordon or Abdullah combo could be deadly.

No I would not. You can base your offense on the running game and not spend a 2nd on a RB. This team needs DL and LB way more than a RB...particularly if you sign Peterson.

Yea, I would take a guy in the 2nd.

I'd take Peterson on a 2-3 year deal and a guy like Abdullah in the 2nd over re-signing Murray for 7-8 per year every single time.
What's your quess as to how much Petersen would take to move? Also, Minnesota may keep him the rest of the year and he will still be under contract there. If they did decide to unload him next season how much less would he take than what Murray could be signed for?

I doubt Minnesota keeps him. He is slated to make like 15 mill this next year, and I read they can save 13 mill against the cap next year by cutting him. No way is the drama worth 15 mill to keep around. I think he will go in the 3-5 mill per year area.

Agreed, I think we could get him on a contract with heavy stipulations and a yearly value somewhere around that because the vast majority of the league will be scared off by the fact that he's an older RB with alot of tread on him and the off-field stuff. Combine that with him apparently wanting to be in Dallas and it wouldn't surprise me if we got him on a very friendly deal.

I think Peterson's more likely to have a good 2015 (if he plays) than Murray. Murray's high number of carries may kill his 2015 numbers, if not his career.

A portion of your response is why I am hesitant to want him. Make no mistake, I am a very big Petersen fan but he is like a high milage used car. It's a big risk at any price from a business perspective. The other part of my question was what do ou think Murray can be signed for?

Murray is young and well conditioned. If he gets through the season uninjured, he can be rejuvenated in the off season. I do believe however, there is a danger to running him so much and have repeatedly voiced my objection to the overuse of him.

Murray is going to want probably 6+ a year so if we can get AD for a couple years at that price I do it

I think Murray will want about 6-8, and that's why I'd mitigate the Peterson risk with a high draft pick.

I like Murray but his fumbling has become a major problem. With Peterson it'd depend on the price. I'd prefer it at the right price and as a change of pace guy. But at his age I don't think I'd want him as our primary every down RB and I doubt he'd come here if he wasn't going to be an every down back. So in that case I'd pass. But since Jerry would be able to sell an arseload of Peterson jersey's I'm sure he'll do it.

The only question I have about Peterson is his ability to run behind a zone scheme.

He's always run behind a man scheme and rarely out of shotgun.

Maybe we can pair Peterson with Ray Rice in the backfield. Hide ya wives, hide ya kids!

There's no reason for us not to work in 7 runs a game to Williams (because Randle's stupid ass should be cut) or Randle if they absolutely must.

Especially considering Peterson may be the better player.
