"It'll be a major fine -- game-check range, and he'll do some other things that go with it: community service and things like that we'll want him to do – significant discipline,'' Jones said during a Wednesday sit-down with USA TODAY Sports. "Unfortunately, that's why he fell a little bit in the draft, just a little bit of the off-the-field stuff.
Interesting. Don't recall him having major red flags. Maybe the off-the-field stuff was that well, he's a dumb ass.

Arrest video shows Joseph Randle making more bad decisions

Posted by Darin Gantt on October 30, 2014, 5:30 AM EDT

As if weren’t bad enough that Cowboys running back Joseph Randle stole underwear and a tester bottle of cologne from a Dillard’s at a local mall, he showed an utter lack of self-awareness while being booked by police.

Video from the Frisco City Jail, obtained by CBSDFW 11, showed Randle cracking jokes, making unauthorized cell phone calls, and worrying about whether his arrest would end up in the media.

Perhaps the dumbest part (though stealing underwear and a tester bottle of cologne with the word “Guilty in its name is plenty dumb) was an exchange with a female officer.

“If I give you $100 can you give me a massage?” Randle asked.

He called his agent in an effort to bond out in time to make practice as well, and asked cops: “Hey, is this going to be on the news? You think?”

You think, indeed.

The night he was busted, he told cops that if he knew he’d be arrested, he’d have simply kept walking when approached by a mall security guard.

Coupled with his actions at the jailhouse, it’s clear the guy has no respect for other people’s property, the law or common sense.

But he’s since apologized for what he called the “biggest mistake I’ve ever made,” so I guess everything’s OK.

Video.

What a moron. Hopefully they see the tape and decide to cut him and bring on Ryan Williams.

Jesus. Between bringing up Josh Brown to try and explain away his own stupidity and now this latest blast to Dez, I'd just cut his ass now to avoid poisoning the locker room. It's not like he's some kind of special talent where you'd try to work past the problems for the contributions he brings on the field. Cut him now, and forget him.

Maybe at least bring in some RBs to work out, to sort of send a message? Or would he even get it...

Does make you wonder what the deal is with Ryan Williams, though. Arians never played him and we never do either, despite his obviously having some ability.

And on Randle... I listen to an old Okie State coach's radio show, and he said something once about Randle being a knucklehead. First time I'd heard that as well. But then he wasn't nearly as bad as Dez, and that turned out fine. (At least so far.)

Joseph Randle and Dez Bryant argue before Cowboys practice

Posted by Darin Gantt on October 31, 2014, 12:51 PM EDT

Joseph Randle has managed to top himself, and this one is the kind of thing that could have consequences for him.

According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys running back has made his own dumb situation worse by dragging teammates into it, and it spilled over into practice today.

Randle and wide receiver Dez Bryant were apparently in a “snit,” before practice today, and veteran tight end Jason Witten had to step in and tell Randle to “shut up.”

It’s possible that it’s because of something Randle said during the infamous jailhouse video after his arrest for stealing underwear and cologne.

In addition to offering a female cop $100 for a massage, Randle committed an even dumber crime — he compared himself to a teammates’ situation.

“Dez didn’t miss no games for smacking his momma,” Randle said during his booking on the theft charges, referencing Bryant’s 2012 arrest on family violence charges following an altercation with his mother.

He also referenced defensive tackle Josh Brent’s situation during his booking, in an apparent attempt to justify or lessen the seriousness of his own situation.

The amazing streak of stupidity involved in this case is breathtaking, as Randle seemingly doesn’t know not to take other people’s things, have any respect for law enforcement, or the good sense to keep a (more valuable) teammates’ name out of his mouth.

Randle doesn’t seem to have the good sense to shut up when he’s behind, and might eventually find out how replaceable a fifth-round running back can be.

This is great.

Chances are, this dumbass is getting himself tossed off this team, and I'm for that.

Bring on Ryan Williams.

Previously when you posted on these forums I couldn't figure out your user name for the life of me. I kept thinking maybe it had something to do with an experimental candy company or something along those lines. Seeing the brown dog clears it up for me.

After watching the video http://www.myfoxdfw.com/Clip/10795476/randle-arrested#.VFO4iEg7Xog.twitter

I almost have a little sympathy for Randle. He didn't go around screaming that Dez and Brent were scumbags. He was just making small talk with the officers while standing around being booked and asked them, "Do you think this will be a suspension?" (Which of course they don't know, but this guy isn't that bright.) It's then that he mentions Dez and Brent still being on the team. It's not like he intentionally went around trashing his teammates.

Really, I don't even see how and why this video was released. I bet all kinds of idiotic things are said when people get booked but those things never see the light of day.

Dez Bryant, Joseph Randle bicker
Updated: October 31, 2014, 3:15 PM ET
By Todd Archer | ESPN.com

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and running back Joseph Randle got into an argument as the media was entering the practice field Friday.

Bryant did not divulge what the argument was about when asked after practice, but a source said it was related to a comment Randle made during the running back's arrest earlier this month in reference to a July 2012 incident involving Bryant and the receiver's mother.

"Dez didn't miss no games for slapping his mama," Randle said in the video, obtained by KDFW-TV, that was taken while he was being booked after stealing underwear and a tester bottle of cologne form a Dillard's in Frisco, Texas.

Randle was wondering aloud if he'd be suspended by the team for the shoplifting arrest.

In July 2012, Bryant was accused of hitting his mother, Angela, but the misdemeanor family assault charge was eventually dismissed.

"Oh, man it's all good," Bryant said Friday of the argument. "It's all right. That ain't no big deal. It ain't a big deal. It ain't no big deal. We got to get on the Arizona Cardinals."

In the video, Randle also made a comment about Josh Brent, who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter for his involvement in an accident that led to the death of teammate and friend Jerry Brown in 2012.

"Josh Brent, he's still up in the locker room. He was driving drunk. That's stupid," Randle said.

Brent returned to practice this week and still has two games left to serve on his 10-game suspension.

Randle made other flippant remarks while being booked, including asking a female jail employee if she would give him a massage if he paid her $100 and asking why his height and weight were not on his mug shot.

"This is not a damn trading card," a male jail employee responded.

Randle only told reporters that "I regret saying everything" after Friday's practice.

While the team was stretching, tight end Jason Witten took his helmet off and told Randle to be quiet. There were no other incidents before the portion of practice that was open to the media concluded.

Witten downplayed the incident.

"Look there's fiery guys," he said. "Things happen all the time. It just so happened (the media) probably were out there for a little of it. So we're going places. We're trying to move on from last week's game. All that's handled and you move forward."

The Cowboys fined Randle a game check after the arrest, but he was not suspended.

Coach Jason Garrett had no comment after Friday's practice. On Thursday, he was asked about the importance of representing the organization in a positive way.

"You want to be the right kind of guy on the field and off the field and just handle yourself accordingly," Garrett said. "It's about being the right kind of person first and foremost. We all have a privilege to be a part of the NFL, and we certainly have a privilege to play and coach for the Cowboys.

"We expect people to represent themselves the right way and respect that privilege. That doesn't mean everyone is going to do everything the right way, we recognize that -- people are human beings. But certainly you want to be accountable for things that you do that aren't right and learn from them and move on."
