Wow. I can't disagree more.

We are most certainly not better without Ware.

We are all sitting here saying, man if we only had a pass rush we might be on to something defensively. Meanwhile the guy we cast aside for nothing has 7 sacks in Denver.

The defense is holding up well, but we miss Ware or a Ware type pretty badly. It may even be the difference between a super bowl and coming up short.
We miss a pass rusher.

Not sure we miss that particular pass rusher.

The same issues about killer instinct, nastiness, physicality...they all apply now.

I hate to say it, but we have a great personality and chemistry mix right now.

IMO Ware was way too finesse. And in a way, so is Sean Lee.

Both great players, but still.

We have a blue collar team right now and it is working so far.

I get what you are saying but he's gotten off to fast starts the last 2 years only to fall off drastically around the midway point of the season. Right now one could argue that Dallas made a big mistake but recent history suggest that once the calendar flips to November, Ware's average post-game numbers will frequently look like this: 0 sacks, 2 tackles.

Back in the spring I said that he could still be a 7-10 sack guy. But I'm not paying $14M - $16M for that. Especially since Ware has become a boom or bust player. He's virtually invisible outside of the sacks. He also got real sloppy with his he run defense his last couple of years in Dallas.

Overall I think Dallas made a smart move. It was nice to finally see them get rid of an aging player a year early rather than a year late.
Another thing to consider is that he'd be the focus of the opposing team's blocking for every game.

In Denver, the league leader in sacks, Von Miller, is on the opposite side of him.

Would he be able to put these same numbers up and handle the wear and tear of being a 4-3 end for us right now?

I'm not so sure.

If you think that's the type of analysis that Football Outsiders do then you haven't read much of their stuff. They basically take statistical analysis and make outlandish claims based on it.
I didn't see anything outlandish with this article.

I don't know that anyone is worth 16 million in cap space. But I do believe that they could have come to an agreementthat would have worked for both sides with in a reduced number. if they wanted to.

as for his "declining skills", I believe he is on pace for 17 or so sacks this year. sounds like he is still in his prime to me.

meanwhile we are all sitting here wondering where are sacks and pressure are going to come from.
I don't see how they could have come to an agreement on a reduced number after Denver made its offer.

That on pace for 17 is bolstered by 3 vs Denver where he had a serious matchup advantage. He's also had games where he go 0 sacks.
