CURIOUS GEORGE: When will RB DeMarco Murray’s 100-yard streak end?; Has anyone missed CB Morris Claiborne?

It’s that time of week again. Time for Tuesday’s edition of Curious George.

Every week, I’ll be wondering out loud on Tuesdays throughout the season with a Curious George blog.

This is my seventh installment of Curious George: Five things that I’m curious about after the Dallas Cowboys’ seventh game:

Let’s get to it …

* Curious about which team will put an end to RB DeMarco Murray’s remarkable run of seven consecutive 100-yard rushing games to start the season: This can’t go on forever, right? DeMarco Murray can’t just continue to rush for 100 yards every game the rest of the season, huh? He’s shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. However, all good things must come to an end. But which opponent has the best chance to limit Murray on the ground? Washington has the next chance on Monday Night Football, but the Redskins rank 12th in the NFL in rushing defense (allowing 103.3 yards per game) and will be without standout LB Brian Orakpo. But after Washington, Murray is sure to be tested at home against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. Arizona has the NFL’s top rushing defense right now, allowing only 72.5 rushing yards per game. Of course, Murray had his way with Seattle’s then-league-leading run defense a few weeks ago.

* Curious about how anyone involved with RB Joseph Randle thought it was a good idea that he agree to endorse underwear: Last Monday night, Cowboys reserve RB Joseph Randle was arrested by Frisco police for shoplifting a tester bottle of cologne and a two-pack of Polo underwear from Dillard’s at Stonebriar Mall and charged with a Class B misdemeanor for theft. Over the weekend, he agreed to endorse underwear for California-based MeUndies. The decision to endorse underwear after being arrested for theft of underwear was a bad one on many levels, and Randle and his agent should have been smarter and said thanks but no thanks and moved on. The Cowboys can’t be happy about Randle basically mocking the entire process of the arrest and their decision to fine him, making the incident even more of a running joke. Does anyone believe the theft or Randle’s decision to endorse underwear so soon after the arrest set a good example for anyone who possibly looks up to pro athletes as a role model?

* Curious about if everyone noticed how many times Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray rushed to the right side Sunday despite RT Doug Free not playing: The Cowboys played their first game without one of their starting offensive linemen on Sunday against the New York Giants. Right tackle Doug Free is out the next three to four weeks with a fractured right foot. But the Cowboys didn’t shy away from running to the right side Sunday against the Giants with Jermey Parnell starting in place of Free at right tackle. Of DeMarco Murray’s 28 carries in the game, 17 of them went to the right side.

* Curious about if anyone has noticed how much the Cowboys haven’t missed first-round pick CB Morris Claiborne since his season-ending injury: The Cowboys lost CB Morris Claiborne for the season when he tore his patellar tendon in his left knee in their Week 4 game in late September. But have the Cowboys really missed Claiborne, the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft? It sure doesn’t seem that way the last three games, and that’s a credit to Sterling Moore. The former SMU player has filled in well for Claiborne at the nickel cornerback spot. On Sunday, Moore had two of the Cowboys’ three pass breakups and added four tackles. Moore played 51 of the Cowboys’ 63 defensive snaps against the Giants on Sunday. So far it’s been: No Mo, No Problems. But CB Brandon Carr is dealing with what coach Jason Garrett described Monday as a minor hamstring injury. The Cowboys certainly aren’t deep at cornerback with Claiborne out for the season. They need Carr on the field Monday night against Washington. Fourth CB Tyler Patmon, the undrafted rookie free agent from Oklahoma State, played only one snap Sunday against the Giants.

* Curious about how much LT Tyron Smith’s left ankle bothered him Sunday against the New York Giants: Make no mistake, there are few tougher players in the NFL than Cowboys LT Tyron Smith. He’ll play through just about anything. He’s only missed on game in his pro career. He played Sunday with a sprained left ankle, and I wonder how much it really bothered him. Smith didn’t have his best game against Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul. He allowed a few hurries and a sack. And the Cowboys rushed more to the right side (as I noted earlier) with RB DeMarco Murray. Coach Jason Garrett said Monday that Smith came out of the Giants game fine. Smith is never one to complain, but how much did that ankle really bother him in the game?

* Curious about him not mentioning that Randle will be responsible for about $15K being donated to a youth charity.

Who is the better CB: Morris Claiborne or Liz Claiborne?

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

Cut Claiborne and draft DL, DL, DL, and CB.

Good sign that we're running to Parnell's side. I hope it's because he's playing good and not because Tyron struggled at times against JPP.

Maybe Parnell is not sucking quite so hard as it seems some wish to portray.

Could also just be a result of concerns about the injury to Smith.

This. I mean, the guy stole underwear. Stupid as hell, but it doesn't mean he has to hide under a rock the rest of the season. He's getting out in front of it, taking the heat, and doing something positive with it.

Nothing against Parnell, but it's probably more to do with the TE's lining up on the right and practicing mostly from that side.

Schmitty has mentioned multiple times how horrendous he has played.
There are people that actually pay attention to what he says?

Whoa.
Per schmitty's take, if he thinks Parnell is horrific, then Garrett should be running the ball less these next 3 weeks since Garrett, you know, adjusts his playcalling to personnel.
