Scioscia is losing it. He intentionally pinch hit for the catcher today with pitcher Scott Downs. Not an interleague matchup either. Oh and Hamilton was available on the bench. Then again maybe he isnt losing it. Scott walked and scored a run. Later Hamilton played and was an out.

Phil Hughes' last four starts.

28 IP
23 H
30 K
5 BB
6 R
1.93 ERA

His first 2 starts were shat, but he missed most of spring training with back spasms and the Yankees just had to rush him to get those huge early April starts. He needed a few more weeks to get right. They rushed him back.

And that Pooholes contract only has 8 more years to go!
Pujols salary

2012: $12 million
2013: $16 million
2014: $23 million
2015: $24 million
2016: $25 million
2017: $26 million
2018: $27 million
2019: $28 million
2020: $29 million
2021: $30 million

It starts getting bad next season. I know they are about to get a new TV contract but most of that is going right there.

So essentially 6 years from now when he's completely washed up they'll be paying him approximately $30M per year those last few years. Horrid contract. I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was back loaded like that.

There is a gaping hole at the top of the Braves lineup just as I anticipated. Before the season started I said they should have concentrated on bringing in FAs who have good OBP. Instead that loaded up on undisciplined hitters with pop in their bat.

J. Upton should be among the league leaders in RBIs but no hitting in front of him can get on base with in regularity.

If the Braves truly want to compete this year they need to pull off a trade to upgrade the top of the lineup.

If the Red Sox are gonna lose a series, at least let it be to the Rangers.

The thing about Pujols is that this is not something that no one saw coming. His BA, OPS and Slugging have gone down for the past five years.

And you'd think the Angels would have learned from the Yankees mistake with A-Rod's contract.

No one saw that coming?! It was already a fairly established trend before he signed that contract with the LAA and he wasn't getting any younger. I remember having conversations about it with a die-hard Cardinals fan friend of mine right before he signed that deal. It was an absurd contract that was clearly paying him for what he'd done to that point in his career, not what he was going to going forward.

Not like I can do anything about it.

Both teams are now tied for best record in the AL, so it's a nice medium for me.
Best record in baseball.

Get that mess out of here! One team or the other and you will do this now!

Oh, the Red Sox are my team.....no question.

If they faced each other in the playoffs, I'd pull for the Sox, but it would suck to see the Rangers get eliminated.

I just can't actually "cheer" against the Rangers. I'm happy for the success they are enjoying as of late. Of the 16 years I lived in Dallas, they made the playoffs once and that was the year that I moved - 1996.

I'm just glad my hometown team is doing well.

Vance Worley, 0-4 7.22 era vs. Clay Buchholz, 6-0 1.01 era

Looks like we've got a pretty good chance of taking the opener in Boston tonight.
