It doesn't matter why Emmitt ran, just that he did.

And this offense is every bit as good. Better passer, equal WR, equal TE, equal RB, and equal OL. Equal depth. Yeah the fullback sucks, but it's the only negative comparison. I watched both.

Troy stepped up in the playoffs and it remains to be seen if Romo can do the same if we're fortunate enough to make it

Nah, Aikman was better than Romo, and Smith was better than Murray. But this group has a chance to show they belong.

There is no reason we should lose the Giants minus Cruz and Jennings. Zero. Zip.

Anything can happen in the NFL and if is one of those Sundays, and the Cowboys can't beat this Giants team, it could be disastrous to the team psyche.

I was at that game. :towel
Seriously jealous.

Aikman was a better leader, more durable, and a lot more careful with the ball, but Romo is a better passer and much more creative. Aikman in a way prided himself on not having to be creative, and he was unreal his first four years in the playoffs. Romo was average in his playoff games, but his team barely gave him a chance for the most part-- especially the OL.

Of course Smith was better than Murray overall, but Murray is bringing it this year.

I disagree about Aikman. Romo is a lot more elusive and can improvise better. Aikman was a tree stump in the backfield. He could only retreat and his route was always the same. Run to the right or back pedal. Aikman had a stronger arm but I don't think he was as accurate as Romo except for the out routes.

Aikman just might be the most accurate passer I have ever watched play the game.

Aikman was the best at throwing out routes I've ever witnessed. He was not good at deep shots though, so they rarely tried those passes. Romo used to be better at them, but his deep throwing skill has declined.

But IMO we're only now getting to know the real Romo. He can pick his moments and can better rely on the pros around him to do their jobs and also make plays.

Troy had that from 1991-1995. I shudder to recall Troy's performances outside of that window. The rare exception was 1999 opening day. What a game.

Aikman lifetime percent 61%. Romo 68%
Can't compare stats across eras, too many rule changes that favor passing since then.

Eras? Romo is one of the all-time best in completion percentage. Period. Tom Brady is 63.4%, Joe Montana 63.2%, Steve Young 64.3%, Kurt Warner 65.5%, Peyton Manning 65.5%, and Phillip Rivers 64.6%.

The only "era" we need compare is any passing attack post 1978, when the OL were allowed to use their hands and DBs could no longer hit WRs at any point before the ball was in the air.

In the last 10 years there has been a massive shift in PI calls and rules. Especially the mysterious hitting a defenseless receiver. I don't think you can compare passing percentages of the two QBs accurately. All I know is I watched both play every game of their career and Aikman was more accurate, especially with the short to intermediate routes.

All I can do is point to the stats. Accept them or reject them. As the old saying goes, numbers don't lie.

Where's your example?
Really? Aikman is known as one of the most accurate guys ever not just by our fanbase but around the league. He was definitely more accurate than Romo.

I prefer the other old saying- there's 3 kinds of lies, lies, damn lies, & statistics
