I guess it would beat what we usually do in the second round though.
I don't know... Julius Jones comes to mind.

But they reached for Jones out of desperate need. If they let the draft come to them they could end up with an impact player.

When is Terrence Williams' due to hit FA? I would like to see him extended a little early and maybe get it done on the cheap.
He is a guy like Leary that I'd love to keep around on a reasonable contract. I know Leary has the injury concerns but man he has been good and hasn't displayed any propensity for injury yet.

I'd be fine giving him 6-7 a year for 4-5 years if we can get out of it easily after 3 years. With that said, we have a bunch of free agents who have played important roles for us, namely Dez, Free, Rolando, Durant, Moore, Carter, Harris, Hayden, Spencer, Selvie, and not to mention Melton whose option we have to consider and represents a significant inflation over what he's being paid this year.

Now, of course we aren't going to re-sign all of those guys but there are alot of names there who we will probably want to bring back and it might not be feasible to re-sign Murray considering the nature of the position. And I really like the RB class this year, if we can get a guy like Gordon, Abdullah or Yeldon in the 2nd I'm taking him whether we have Murray or not, it's just that the need obviously grows exponentially if we let Murray walk.

I'm guessing that we probably franchise him and draft a guy, I just hope that doesn't create issues in the locker room.

Agree that all those you named have had a positive effect on the team but in my view Murray has had the single most positive impact on this team. His production is primarily the reason that Dallas is where they are currently. How can that be ignored? If he goes through this season and continues to produce in a similar manner he wil expect to be rewarded. $6.5 for 5 years seems low but fair to both.

Like I said, I'd be fine with that, but you do have to consider how quickly RB's fall off and the fact that we have probably the best OL in the league. I'd much prefer to keep Murray than let him go, but if we do that because he's looking for 8 million a year, I understand it.

Yeah. By season end he could hold several rushing records and his agent is going to use tem for poke chips.

Remember that the year after the Rams traded Erik Dickerson, his backup led the league in rushing. Dickerson was the most talented RB I ever saw, tied with Hershel Walker, and the line still was more important.
