BTW...I know Randle only carried 2 times, but both of those runs he did a good job of making people miss and gaining 2 yards. He could have easily been tackled for a loss on both carries.

Randle made all those moves and got two whole yards.

:lol Yanked.

Guess the Cowboys wanted to win.

They could have been 3 yard losses, but yeah...they were good runs. I know it does not fit your agenda though.

That's the way I saw it. Both of them could have easily been 3 yard losses. Turning them into a 2 yard gain was a win for the offense. I thought he showed some good vision and wiggle to make the first guy miss in the backfield.

I thought Randle looked really good on the 2 carries he had. With Murray's fumble issues it is surprising he isn't getting 8-10 carries a game. It seems to be working so far though

Randle is trying but he's just too slow. His two yard gain should have been more because there was a crease.

I'm fine with it for now because we just don't have a choice (no pun intended) and he's not actually losing either yardage or the football.

The coaches clearly have no faith, and that lack of speed is the reason. Dunbar is similarly not getting carries because of his lack of size.

BTW, Dunbar's tackle after Romo's pick was important. Witten probably has him anyway, but that tackle kept field position in our favor and Harris' punt return beautifully set up Dez' TD.

DeMarco Murray's carries to shrink

RVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is on pace to tie Larry Johnson's single-season NFL record for carries in a season with 416, and coach Jason Garrett hopes Murray does not come near it.

Garrett said he would like to lessen the load on the NFL's leading rusher going forward after handing it to Murray 130 times for 670 yards in the Cowboys' first five games. Murray carried a career-high 31 times for 136 yards in the Cowboys' 20-17 overtime win against the Houston Texans on Sunday, three weeks after posting a career-high 29 carries against the Tennessee Titans.

Murray has had at least 22 carries in the first five games, which is the most he has had in any five-game span of his career. He had four straight games with 20 carries as a rookie in 2011.

Emmitt Smith holds the Cowboys' record for carries in a season with 377 in 1995.

"DeMarco was out there and we think that's probably too many carries in the game, week in and week out," Garrett said. "He ended up with 31 so we'd like to get that number lower. We'd really just like to get the other guys an opportunity. I don't see any wear and tear in DeMarco but having said that, we want to make sure we create a rotation and we'll focus on doing that in the next few weeks."

Murray has not had more than 217 carries in a season with ankle, foot and knee injuries knocking him out of 11 games in his first three seasons. Backup running backs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar have combined for 22 carries for 88 yards in the first four games.

Randle had just two carries for 4 yards against the Texans. Dunbar has not had a carry in three straight games.

While Garrett acknowledged certain games in which the Cowboys lead by a lot or trail by a lot will play a part in Murray's touches, he said the coaches have to be mindful of the carries.

"We've got to make sure we take care of him over the course of the season, but we'd do that with any player," Garrett said.

Now we can debate whether it was from Jerry or not....

Odd.

Dunbar was looking pretty good last year before he got hurt.

Possibly or just like Jerry has shown time after time he has made the decision for him.

Kind of like this week...except they did the exact opposite of what Jerry asked.

Expected response. You overreacted.
I didn't overreact. I wasn't saying Jerry was going to change the workload of Murray. I just want him to STFU about gameplans and how players are used. It's not his place to talk about it. Especially not with a mic in his face.

Jerry says Murray needs to have his carries cut down. Murray then goes out and has the most carries he's ever had in a game for us.

Clearly Jerry is making the game decisions on who gets touches here. How can you not see this?

I wouldn't mind the backups getting more reps if the best one wasn't stashed on the PS.

That was the silver lining-- the coaching staff actually found the balls to show the GM he's done a shit job of finding RB depth. Kudos for trying to win and I get it.

Unfortunately it's coming at Murray's expense.

Bill Parcells knew though that a run for zero yards still has its worth. This coaching staff seems to panic and move to the pass the instant the run gets stuffed, regardless of the situation. A perfect example was the end of regulation vs. Houston.

Funny how Parcells knew the worth in a zero yard run, but when Randle gains two yards after avoiding a tackle in the backfield, it's useless.
