Before the draft you have to have cap available to sign your drafted players...now that we have drafted them it is OK to not have cap space available to sign them? That doesn't make sense to me at all...not sure how that is hard to follow. If I am wrong, so be it, but I don't see anything other than opinion on the matter now.
I've never heard of that being an issue and off the top of my head, I can't remember a team being unable to sign a player after the draft because they couldn't draw from a pool of funds that was dedicated towards the draft.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that I don't ever remember an instance of this being an issue after the draft.

Not sure there is much precedence here. If you have to have the cap space available to draft the players, then after you don't...to me that is circumventing the cap. It's like we are floating a check until 1 Jun.

Ace, your right, other teams do it too. I just thought they had to wait because why else have the rule in the first place? If its just circumvented like that then its not a rule at all. I thought the money for rookies had to stay available.

Before the draft began we had to have enough to sign the draft picks...if we sign Clabo would we still have enough to sign our draft picks? If not, that is circumventing the cap.
I am not aware that is the rule. In fact I am not even sure when the date is that we have to be cap compliant. Obviously teams can be over the cap at certain points of the year because it frequently happens. You just can't play a game at that level.

I am not 100% sure of the rule but I don't see why it would prevent us from signing a guy now.

I think you have to be cap compliant when you take the roster to 53.
