They are the team that is currently listed as the "best of the NFC East" and given as a reason that the Cowboys won't win the East. So how is it invalid and not relevant?
Who brought up just the NFC East? You jumped in on someone talking about how bad we suck at the 4th round area of the draft. Which is FACT. You jumped in trying to lob comparisons.

That's based on their new HC who is only in his second year so you should only be comparing the last two years drafting
OK:

2014
Jaylen Watkins DB - On 53
Anthony Hitchens LB - On 53
2013
Matt Barkley - QB - 3rd String
B.W. Webb Cowboys - DB - Cut

So basically they are the same. 3rd stringers, except QB, make the roster on their ability to play special teams.

If you doubt that, watch the last episode of Hard Knocks.

Why wouldn't you bring up the East, it is the division that the Cowboys play in. To not consider it is ludicrous.

Comparing the Cowboys to just one team (which has had a terrible draft history) is what's ludicrous.

Isn't that the team that is considered to be the division winner? Why wouldn't you compare yourself to them? That is who you have to beat to win the division.

Nobody brought up the NFC East until you. That's the issue. "Don't let the facts slap you in the face".

If the Cowboys are to make the playoffs, don't they have to beat the NFC East?

If they are on top of the NFC East do they make the playoffs?

Doesn't matter what was "brought up," the end result is that if they have the best record in the East they make the playoffs. So why wouldn't you compare yourself to the rest of the division?

That is the FACTS.

I think it was more that you randomly defended the team against a division foe that has been historically bad at drafting than anything.

Go get more FACTS and come back to us.

But you are ignoring the fact that the Eagles are being promoted as the "quality" team of the NFC East. I was just pointing out that they aren't.

I think we are saying the same thing. We are both saying that they haven't drafted well, but the media tries to say that they have when that isn't really the truth.

I'm not saying that YOU have said they are perennially a great drafting team. But that is the media portrayal of them.

Honestly, even the best drafting teams are only a 50% hit team. And that is on a great year.

The media is portraying the Eagles as a great drafting team?

So if the Eagles do an equally shitty job at drafting, than you're telling me the problem isn't all Jerry and in fact coaching on this team is mediocre?

I'll agree with that.

And amazingly, since 2007, the Eagles are 2/11 on 4th round picks. Exactly the same as the Cowboys.

But they have Chip so they must be AWESOME.

Don't let the facts slap you in the face. (Once again, not defending Jerry, just looking at the reality of the situation)
I just wanted to make fun of Jerry, which he deserves on a daily basis. :golfclap

Who are the 4 4th rounder wonders to which you refer? We should know the numerators in those sad ratios.

The Packers have been rock steady drafters for years.

Over time, quality PT should come from your 4th round picks, but if it doesn't you need to rapidly churn street FA's in those spots.

The problem in Dallas is twofold: 1) drafting pathetic projects who never see the field and 2) sticking with them come Hell or high water keeping better prospects from ever competing for a chance.

Facts? OK:

http://www.footballperspective.com/are-certain-teams-better-at-drafting-than-others/

there are numerous links that back up the content of the post, but the grading one can be found here:

http://www.footballperspective.com/the-best-drafting-teams-from-2000-to-2007/

I just find it funny that I hear often on message boards and in the media that this team or that team are "perennially good drafting teams" and that Dallas sucks at drafting. The facts just don't back the up. At the VERY BEST teams across the league only find players worthy of keeping on the team the year drafted at about a 35% rate. That number drops quickly as you start to look at percentage still on the team 2, 3, 4 years later.

Google "top nfl team draft classes of all time" and most of the lists are of teams that were pre-salary cap. Since the salary cap and the reduction of the draft to 7 rounds, you be better at judging teams by the UDFAs they find rather than how they draft.
