IRVING — Jason Garrett revealed Thursday that Cowboys LB DeVonte Holloman's football career is over due to a severe neck injury
DeVonte Holloman suffered the injury Saturday in the club’s second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Holloman was injured with 6:34 left in the fourth quarter. He was going for a tackle and one of his teammates made contact with him underneath his arm. Holloman slammed his right fist in the turf after the injury.
This wasn’t the first neck-related injury for Holloman. He suffered a spinal contusion in a practice last season and missed seven games.
Holloman ended the season starting the last two games at middle linebacker for the Cowboys. He had two sacks and led the team with 11 tackles in the season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wow, that's shitty. Another promising player lost from this defense.

Tough break for the kid. Wish him well. Guess it could have been worse, at least he gets to walk away from football. From what I've read, there should be no long term effects from it.

That sucks that his NFL life was cut short. Hopefully he can still lead a somewhat normal real-life.

Wonder if it's similar to Irvin's spinal condition

Sucks. Another victim of the Arlington Curse.

Double suckage: Him having to retire before his NFL career really got off the ground and losing a young player with some talent and potential.

Well, I'll wish the kid good health, hope he recovers well and it doesn't affect him long term.

I don't even really believe in curses but if such things exist, this team has one.

I feel bad for the kid. He realized his dream, only to have it cut short. And yes, the gods are punishing Jerry. I can't say I blame them either.

How many years will we field this defense with street walkers and expect to win?
