If worrying about our line had something to do with it then last year and times during the season before wouldn't have been an issue going away from it whenbitnwas going good.

God damn, Smitty. We ran the ball VERY WELL last year when we actually ran it. That means the offensive line did their job... well... in that regard. So, the fact that Garrett went away from the run had jack nor shit to do with the lines performance. Zero. Nada. None.

Well, not in the first part of the season. Go read the article here.

By midseason we were running it well though. So I don't think it discredits what's you are trying to say.

So, the fact that Garrett went away from the run had jack nor shit to do with the lines performance. Zero. Nada. None.
The fact that Garrett went away from the run when we were run blocking well, proves that the lines performance AT THE TIME had nothing (well, I still don't like that extreme term, let's say very little) to do with his abandoning it.

However, his overall demonstrated reluctance to run, is actually very likely to have been influenced by the fact that in his first couple years as a head coach, he simply couldn't trust his line. I am sure that fact has leaked into the formation of his philosophy. Hopefully it's not permanent and he can regain some trust. I suspect he will.

If not, that's definitely another strike against him.

The whole genesis of this debate is that some people think we could see those run totals creep back up now that the line is fixed.

If it's true that the line's struggles had "nothing" to do with him abandoning the run, that means that Garrett won't run it more even with a better OL, and he would have always run the ball 33% of the time no matter the circumstances.

I can't possibly believe that's true, and citing a couple late season games where we abandoned the run while blocking well, does not prove that Garrett will never trust the run again.

He may be slow to learn, but I think it is possible that he will realize the run blocking is better and thus, go back to using it a little more. That has something to do with his philosophy these last couple year. Which is more than nothing.

How anyone could say otherwise is kinda astounding when you factor in exactly how bad the run blocking was, once upon a time.

Obviously the run blockin success in GB did not effect him enough to switch back in that game. Over time, it may.

The robot defies both logic AND common sense. Awesome!

Not being able to adapt to and use your team's strengths is bad coaching even if the team's strengths aren't historical strengths. I couldn't care less how Garrett's attitudes were shaped, either by the team's former problems or by his own ex-QB passing-centric prejudices. The fact is his bad coaching costs the team several wins per year and he shouldn't be employed here based on his performance as head coach.
