also this sheds a little light on why Jerry decided to publicly lament passing on Manziel
Considering our second round pick seems to be generating more buzz and talk you are probably right. Not a knock on Martin, just that a guard is probably the least sexy pick possible.

OXNARD, Calif. The Cowboys have drawn almost 6,500 fewer fans at this point, but Jerry Jones insists he’s unconcerned.

“I’m not concerned, because I appreciate the crowds we do have,” the Cowboys owner said. “I can see that [the crowds] look down from where we have had in the past, but they have been so impressive out here, not only in numbers on any given day but the numbers of days that there are numbers out here. But no, I don’t have any issues even on quote, ‘a slow time.’ This is one of the best times I know of in the NFL in terms of attendance for practicing.”

Dallas drew 21,337 in the first six practices last season, held a week earlier, including 6,614 at their opening practice. The Cowboys have had only 14,868 fans watch their practices this season.

A Salsa Festival was held the first weekend of training camp this year.

This is the Cowboys’ ninth training camp in Oxnard.

Jerry is wondering, "this had to have started somewhere!"

My office is a 20 minute drive away, and I have not had the urge to attend a single practice this year. Last year I drove up 4 times. Typically on the 1st Saturday they get about 8,000-10,000 attendees. This year was down by half for opening Saturday.

So it's your fault.

Southern California is not a good barometer for football fans. They won't even support a local NFL team.
BS.

I was at TC for a few days last year and it was packed. The Cowboys are a national thing, not just Texas.

Jerry should have picked Manziel instead. Then the place would have been packed.

That however, would indicate to me he was still putting dazzle ahead of solid building blocks. There have been some good #1 draft players taken in the past 3 Years and none were the flashy types. I prefer the current #1 pick over Manziel.

I don't know, the "best cornerback since Deion" might be considered a little flashy by some

2011 was when we took Smith in the 1st, we moved up for Mo in 2012
Okay. In the last 4 years Dallas picked up 3 solid picks and one the jury is still out on. To me it shows a positive trend in # 1 picks. My position on Manziel is the same. This is the year Claiborne will either prove his worth or become a bust. I don't remember much about him having a dazzle flashy reputation on the national scene other than Jones comments.
